Theory: When you inquire with the ticket office beforehand, they assure you that the concert halls are indeed well air conditioned. The online subscription brochure even features an ad from the local Verbund electric company in which they brag about their modern air conditioning systems in the Konzerthaus.
Reality: During the very warm evening of June 12, 2019, those alleged air conditioning systems were clearly not operational. Temperatures were above 30 degrees C (86 degrees F) both inside and out and the humidity was very high. Audience members were fanning themselves with their programs and more than a few chose to leave after sweating profusely through the opening. Especially for the elderly and unfit obese, the risk of heat stroke was very real.
Advice: Avoid the Wiener Konzerthaus when it's hot outside. Doubt any and all claims that the concert halls are well air conditioned.

What is even more ridiculous is that we were forced to pay almost 2 Euros to leave the coats there. And we attended the concert, shivering, because it was cold in the room. We didn’t expect in 21st-century they were charging €3.40 and not accepting cards cash only… while I only have card available with me, so I went outside to the ATM to withdraw money but the ATM is totally broken.
