Even after years of absence, the drinks are still incredible! The menu sure has changed, however a select few highlights still remain (gin-tonic lovers, be sure to try "Malbrett" for an interactive cocktail experience). A whole lot of new drinks and varieties. Of course, you can still order depending in your mood, or a specific taste you are after - even if you just like particular spirits or are entirely undecided - the wonderful staff will make sure to entice you with a drink catering to your desires.
I must admit, I was a little sad to not find my top choice within the menu anymore, however rest assured, an updated variety more than made up for it! Have to admit, I do not remember the name of the new version, but the old was called "Bittersweet Symphony" and was a perfect mix of fruit+spirit, plus a smoky ginger aromatic. The new version was smoke infused right in front of us, inspiring quite a few other tables to ask for the same drink. ;)
Some other highlights I caught within our group were the Basil Smash, Mai Tai Champagne or Pink Mojito.
As before, the bar is well visited, it pays off to book a table in advance. You can still order food as well, the gioza are still a delight!
Many thumbs up, The Sign is still very much atop...
Read moreThis was probably the most creative cocktail bar I've ever been to. The atmosphere is dark and slinky featuring low tables tucked into every corner and a few high tables along the bar. I chose to sit at the high tables as we were just a party of 2 and because I am a bit of a bar voyeur. I'm very happy I did as watching the lovely Peter perform bar magic was half the delight. Picking your first drink from a menu of over 200 craft cocktails covering every single type of liquor imaginable feels like a life-or-death decision. The Banana Daquiri is a lot more sophisticated than it sounds (as is the Pina Colada that brilliantly features lemon curd blended to creamy perfection), and the East Garden Fizz hit all my floral/herby/gin buttons. If you're feeling really adventurous (and a bit like a Rockefeller), throw caution to the wind and give the Sul Portugesa a go (warning, it is garnished with actual tiny fish 🐟). I'm not sure if I even LIKED the cocktail but I couldn't stop drinking it because the flavors and combinations were so fascinating! Being Back home stateside and 4,000 miles away from The Sign is only amplifying my Post-Vacation...
Read moreTL;DR: Insanely rude and threatening staff (who actually got physical) - but a nice bar in general.
Hadn’t been to the place in a long time and went there yesterday with 3 friends. We ordered drinks and the first one arrived after about 15 minutes - the last one more than half an hour later, which is why we decided to stay for one drink only, paid up (but didn’t leave any tip due to the long wait). So far so normal. Not good not bad - can happen.
The interesting thing happens as my friend mentions that it would’ve been nice if the drinks arrived at once which is when the guy (bald, long beard, says he’s the manager) totally flips out of nowhere and starts shouting while threateningly towering above my sitting friend telling us we should be happy that we got any drinks at all and orders us to leave the place immediately. My other friend tries to figure out what happened there by talking to the guy but the conversation goes nowhere and the guy actually shoulder-checks my friends after telling him he’s going to call the police on us if we don’t leave immediately.
Totally uncalled for, unprofessional and most of all,...
