New cafe in Dhanmondi 📍 @cafesaopaulobd TAPAS: Mixed Grilled Tapas- Took this platter and found it to be the most bang for the buck! Each and every item was delicious, special shoutout to the amazing dips! Consists of herbs crusted mutton chap, grilled beef steak, spicy chicken meat, grilled sausage served with bread and yogurt dips. Price BDT 1000+ ENTRÉE: Pan Seared Salmon- This was my friend’s dish and I only tasted the salmon fillet and dip. Didn’t try the sides unfortunately. Salmon was properly cooked and delicious on it’s own but addition of the dip elevates the taste even further. Price BDT 1400+ MOCKTAILS: Mojito (Green Apple), Margarita (Mixed Berry)- Loved both the beverages. There are plenty of flavour options to choose from in both mojito and margarita. Green apple mojito had subtle flavour as expected and mixed berry margarita was completely opposite with very strong flavour. Price BDT 250+ each DESSERT: Triple Chocolate Mousse- Three layers of mousses dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate stacked on a thin slice of sponge cake, topped with melted chocolate, whipped cream, chocolate chips and tempered chocolate garnish. Very delicate, smooth, delicious dessert! Price BDT 450+ Red velvet- The cake in itself was alright but felt very underwhelming compared to their other desserts. Price- Forgot the price, couldn’t find it on their online menu. Sorry! Sao Paulo Cheese Cake- Very tiramisu cheesecake vibes! Cream cheese, lady finger, coffee and cocoa, quite unique. Price BDT 450+ Chocolate Pistachio Dome- This is bomb! The crunch from candied pistachio with smooth chocolate mousse and velvety cake sponge, mirror glaze topped with a beautiful tempered chocolate swan is everything! One of the best desserts I’ve tasted and definitely on top of my desserts list. Price BDT 450+ ICE-CREAM: Their ice creams are made in house. Mocha- One of the highlights of my meal! It was delicious, tasted super premium. I ordered a second one. Highly recommended! Bubblegum- It tasted as it’s supposed to but it’s not really my kind of flavour. Price BDT 220+ per scoop Almond crusted prawn- Three almond crusted deep fried prawns comes with sauce. Very subtle, nutty taste but the spicy flavourful sauce helps enhance the taste. Pretty lacklustre on it’s own. Didn’t find it worthy of the price. Price BDT 475+ Seafood lovers- The platter consists of prawn brochette, grilled squid, char-grilled octopus, pan-fried fish fillet served with fresh salads, yogurt dip and bread. No complaints about the fish items, the squid and octopus were the highlights for me, smoky, soft and delicious. Didn’t try the bread. Dips and salad were great. Price BDT 1100+ Salt & Pepper squid- Very, very basic deep fried squid and for only six pieces the price is insane. Chilli jam enhanced the flavour but still didn’t justify the price, salad was good. Price BDT 550+ Chicken Caesar- This was so damn good! Consists of iceberg lettuce, croutons, parmesan cheese, caesar dressing, grilled chickens and boiled egg. Fresh, subtle, creamy with crunch of croutons was just perfection plus the portion is enough to be an entire meal. Price BDT 605+ Chilli Lovers Pizza- Thin crust ,tomato based pizza with chicken, mushroom, naga pepper and mozzarella cheese toppings. As someone who loves spicy food I loved it! But beware if you have low spice tolerance level. Price BDT 825+ Mojito (Strawberry)- I tried their apple mojito before and liked it better than this. For some reason I expected the strawberry flavour to be more potent but it was subtle. Price BDT 275+ Mango bliss- The name describes it perfectly, bliss! Consists of sponge, chantilly (whipped cream), mango jelly and mango mousse garnished with a cute little macaroon, tempered chocolate and gold varak. Strong mango flavour, smooth, dense deliciousness with texture from the toppings is a must try and definitely one of the best mango desserts in town! Price BDT 385+

A very rare place in Dhaka where you find quality food, good service, and clean environment. We went for family dinner starting with tomato soup, mushroom soup and thai fish cake. Very impressed with the quality of the tomato soup. The cream of mushroom soup was also very nice. We had the Margarita Pizza with extra cheese and prawn linguine pasta for the kids, and kids loved it!! We had the chicken tapas and beef involtini. The Chicken tapas was great, flavourful as well as tasty. The teriyaki chicken was the star of that dish. While I thought the capsicum in the beef involtini was a little overpowering the taste of finely grounded beef, it was well liked by my wife (who shared a big chunk of that dish with me). For deserts we had their home made ice cream, vanilla, chocklate, and strawberry. We thought the strawberry (with sweet strawberry bits inside the ice cream) and chocklate ice cream can give any major ice cream vendors a good run for their money! They were yum. We also had the Sao Paolo Cheese Cake, which was nice (in particular the ladyfingers were light, fluffy and aptly sweet). Over all, fantastic deserts! Oh, and yes, I tried both their Green Apple and Passion fruit mojitos, and they were very refreshing! Kudos to the bar tender!! And our hos, Preetom was very prompt, attentive, and well mannered wtih good understanding of their menu and choices; again something that is not seen very often in Dhaka's food scene. And yes, for all that, we paid less than 2K each, which I thought was extremely reasonable and pocket friendly. Definitely a must try (they are soon opening their outlets in Gulshan 2 (Nov 22) and I'll surely go back again to try some more! Enjoy when you go there! And best wishes to Cafe Sao Paolo Team! Keep up the good work.

I've always heard great things about this cafe but was never expecting an under average service. I ordered affogato and their croissant. The affogato was amazing absolutely delicious gobbled it up within seconds it was creamy yet strong and had no bitter after taste. The interior was top notch and it looked so aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Really did feel like a nice cafe to sit down and relax in. The croissant tasted amazing but on the looks, it kind of failed to match it's deliciousness. They pre garnish their croissant with chocolate which makes the croissant change it's shape and makes it mushy. What is the point of eating a croissant if it isn't flaky and crescent in shape? The shape got me disappointed as it looked similar to normal puffed pastries. Then comes the service. I don't know if the server was going through something or not but despite the cafe being nearly empty, which is unusual, I still got my premade mushed up croissant 20 minutes later. Fun fact is I saw the croissant being left on the counter top. It was the server that didn't pay attention. I had to remind her that I had an order. I do not know what and where it went wrong but for some reason I didn't feel the staff on hand was friendly atleast not to me. She wasn't up front rude but she was distant and not involved enough in meeting the customers needs. I did feel a bit judged by her I guess because I only ordered two things. Aside from this server fiasco everything was fine. But will I ever go back to sao paulo? Probably not.
