BEWARE OF SCAM DURING WEDDING EVENTS
We had our Wedding Reception at Xindian Restaurant for 200 people. We made the arrangements with their employee, Md. Shahjalal Uzzal. We encountered several scams during the process and later heard from other relatives that it is their usual practice.
SCAM 1: Overpriced Stage Decoration
During the booking, Uzzal did not tell us that they don't allow external decorators. After the booking was done, he mentioned that we have to use their in-house decorators, who charges exorbitant amount of money. They wanted 67,000 for stage decoration, entry gate, photo booth. We ended up only getting the simplest stage at the inflated price. You can easily get this done from Shahbag at 1/3rd the price.
SCAM 2: Little meat in Beef Rezala
During the event, we found the polao and roast was okay, but the beef was full of fat and bones. There were very little actual meat to be found. When we asked why is this of so low quality, we did not get any answer. The special dish served to bride and groom was completely cold, and they did not have a way to heat it up.
SCAM 3: Denied leftover food
About 130 guests attended the reception, so there were leftover food for 70 persons. But Xindian only packed food of 20 persons. They said it's their rule to only provide leftover food for 20 persons, even though at no point during booking, Uzzal mentioned this rule to us. It is unacceptable when a restaurant says they don't have boxes to pack food for more than 20 persons, when they literally sell food to customers all day long. Where do they get the boxes then? The food they packed also had the same problem, no meat in beef rezala, just fat and...
Read moreIt was not a good experience to begin with. There was a wedding upstairs which made the restaurant very busy and the waiters were rushing a lot. We had cashew nut salad, Thai soup, and wonton for appetizers, among which the Thai soup was great, but the rest were very sub-par. Diving into dinner, first of all they served us wrong drinks and when we confronted them they said they didn't have the one we ordered. But they didn't even feel the necessity to ask us whether we wanted the other drink, while we ordered mojitos they gave us a latte, quite disappointing. Later while serving food, they mixed our prawn order again and served a saucy prawn instead of prawn balls that we specifically wanted to try. When we asked them to take it away, they pursued us to accept the one they brought because it would take a looong time for them to cook the other dish! The items didn't taste amazing as well. Chowmein, special fried rice and Thai crispy fried chicken was alright while the vegetables, beef curry were very average and the prawn was absolute nightmare. It didn't have any spices ! So, we left we with not so happy tummy. We went there because Xindian has always been a go to place for bengali Chinese, but after this visit, I'll rethink about...

We went there to attend a wedding. The waiters working there are the worst. To be very frank, I have seen better serving waiters in villages, who don't dress up properly, not even educated. Waiters of Xindian Restaurant did not bother to serve food to the guests. When asked for the rice, everytime they brought a plate from another table where only one spoon of rice left!
Did not ask once if I need anything! Did not provide any tissue on the desk. Couldn't get a single piece of tissue asking for few times.
The waiter started to clean the table when I was still eating. And to my utter surprise, he just grabbed my plate. When I asked "why you are taking my plate when I am still eating! This is very poor service. You are not suppose to treat a guest like this". He just ignored my words, smiled at me and went away with my plate.
The waiter was Mr. Mithu Miah. I don't know the owner, manager of this restaurant even care the feedback, but I think they should take necessary steps on this.
And yes, never ever...
