Jalapeno Cafe is located right on Rabindra Sarani, on the way towards Azampur. This single storied restaurant is pretty spacious, and has separate sections for sitting, but the innermost part did feel a bit gloomy. We were there for lunch, so we ordered falafel and arabian shawrma for appetizers, chicken tawook and kebab platter for the main meal, and finally basbousa for dessert. Firstly, I found the pricing to be on the expensive/premium side. Most of the items had pickles and jalapeno with them, as expected. Falafel was pretty fresh and crunchy, and the shwarma also went well with the garlic sauce they provided, but I've had better shwarmas. Their roti and aromatic rice needs a special mention for its buttery smooth taste which goes really well with the Lebanese kababs. I had Basbousa for the first time, it was good, mildly sweet. Their service was nice, although we had to call them out every now-and-then since they weren’t always near the section where we sat in. They served us jalapeno sauce when requested, and refilled the sauces whenever asked. Overall, the experience was delightful, and I may just visit again for the...
Read moreI tried the beef shawarma and white mocha coffee. The shawarma was bland, and barely had any beef in it, not at all worth the asking price of 600 BDT. It felt like I was having a lettuce and tomato wrap rather than a shawarma. The garlic sauce included was mushy and extremely salty, I've had much better dips at other middle eastern restaurants.
The white mocha coffee was okay, it wasn't as bad as the shawarma. But still overpriced, it wasn't blended properly. I could feel chunks of ice while drinking the coffee which is never a pleasant experience.
The staff was polite and well behaved, the atmosphere was average. Although the staff didn't ask for our feedback at the end of the meal.
I went here looking at the positive reviews on Google and social media but I was left...
Read moreGood food. Nice interior. Good service. Would recommend. I however expected them to have lamb kabab or lamb shwarma in the menu which was missing. I also thought they would have middle eastern dessert options but they had western style cakes.
We were group of 5 and ordered the following:
Mixed platter for 4: it came with two types of chicken kabab, 2 types of beef kabab, chicken wings, fried rice, garlic dip, salsa dip and 4 slices of triangular bread with tomato sauce. The rice was surprisingly too good. The kabab were all delicious. The breads aren't to my liking but others may enjoy.
Beef beet root shwarma wrap: the wrap was thin and crispy. The filling were beef, sauce and veggies. It was good but not the best. It also came with fries, beetroot dip...
