The good: Thai Emerald in Uttara is a well-known spot for authentic Thai cuisine in Dhaka. The restaurant offers a variety of flavorful dishes, including classic Thai curries, stir-fries, and soups, prepared with fresh ingredients and balanced spices. The ambiance is elegant and cozy, with a modern Thai-inspired decor that creates a pleasant and comfortable environment for dining. Read moreThai Emerald in Uttara has been a consistent favorite for the past 12 years—and for good reason. Unlike many trendy spots that come and go, this place never disappoints. Every visit leaves me with a satisfied palate and a sense of value well spent.
What truly sets Thai Emerald apart is its ability to deliver authentic flavors at reasonable prices, especially when compared to other upscale restaurants in the area. Some of my all-time favorites include the Morning Glory, the perfectly balanced Tom Yum Soup, and the Steamed Whole Snapper with Lemon, Chili & Garlic Sauce—a dish that’s as vibrant in taste as it is in presentation. Their Chicken Green Curry is rich and comforting, offering just the right blend of spice and creaminess.
And no meal here is complete without their signature dessert: the Coconut Ice Cream. It’s a must-try that perfectly rounds off the experience.

The claw shells are very sharp and I ended up cutting my tongue. Going back to the chilli crab either they got our order wrong or the recipe has drastically changed.
Either way, not a...
