Thai Emerald was a special experience for my family and me as we enjoyed the sophisticated setting with dim lighting.
The Sushi Boat: Ebi Meets Sake was scrumptious; you could tell that the salmon used was fresh—some of the best sushi I’ve had in a long time.
The seafood fried rice was wonderfully jorjhora, and the chicken green curry was creamy with a coconut base. The Fusion Boat captivated us with its above-and-beyond presentation, and the sauce coating the fish was sweet and sour. The prawn cutlet would be the only downside, as it was dry inside. The stir-fried spicy beef was well-cooked but slightly chewy; though that might be more about my personal preference, as I’m not a big beef eater.
Drinks like the Coconut Freeze and Splash were refreshing, pairing well with the mains, and had a natural taste without being overly sweet.
For dessert, the coconut ice cream had sticky rice at the bottom and peanuts for a little surprise; however, the caramel pudding was both silky and smooth.
Attentive staff checked in frequently, ensuring we were well taken care of ☺️. I have to appreciate the seamless fusion of Thai and Japanese cuisines—they truly...
Read moreReally happy that That Emerald is now in Gulshan. The also have the menu from Kiyoshi but not the full menu. The fusion rolls, sushi and salads from kiyoshi are available here as well. We tried
Ebi meets sake - which is my favourite sushi from Kiyoshi.
Chicken Satay - it was alright but nothing special
Tom Yum seafood soup - this was really good and they gave a good amount of seafood which included fish, crab, shrimp, calamari
Mixed Fried rice - portion size was good
Duck with red curry - I was a bit skeptical about this dish as it had pineapple in it. It had a bit of a fruity flavour but tasted really good. The duck was very soft and tender.
Beef green curry - really liked the beef green curry. It went well with the fried rice
Coconut freeze - this drink is made from blended coconut ice cream and has chunks of shaved coconut in it and tasted really nice
Coconut ice cream - served on some sticky rice. This is my favourite dessert from...
Read moreWhat a disappointing experience at Thai Emerald. For such a beautiful restaurant, the food was awful.
The seafood soup was a mixture of flavours that did not work, I couldn't identify any flavours in harmony. It was a mess of strong lemongrass and line juice.
The chicken cashew salad was tough and chewy and lacklustre. The fried rice was the only edible dish. The vegetables were gloomy and the rest i don't even remember.
The service was good although I despise pacing waiters. I am not happy with overstaffed places either as it looks very unprofessional.
The desserts were terrible too. The egg pudding was straight out of the fridge and too tough, it was also pre bought and not made in house. The coconut ice cream was okay but again you could easily tell it was from a box and frozen for too long.
I will not be visiting again! I will be going to literally any other Thai restaurant in that 2 mile radius...
