This review is a little late, time sure flies...stop in for lunch as I've tried all the other restaurants in the shopping centre...menu was good as is to be expected, but I really did expected better, as I'm familiar of who the Chef/owner is, sorry Michael it didn't felt like you were in the kitchen that day...I know your skills...you're one of the best on the island
some of the staff members need a bit more training, as serving guests with a sour face is not customer friendly and take away from the whole experience, I did notice however some staff were friendly and offer suggestions to the clients, I just got an unfriendly one who were more interested in when her shift is finished, as she kept looking at her watch and didn't see her much after during my dining experience
My 3 course meal consists of the Lentil soup, Thai Chicken curry dish and the spiced pumpkin and ginger beignets...the best beignets ever...the location is wonderful, the ambience and woodsey decor is beautiful in the air conditioned comfort of a hot day, in summary it was a good lunch, but maybe I'll give it another...
Read moreI had lunch at Chef Michael Hinds with a couple friends. My friend ordered a soup and meat at medium rare. When he started to eat the steak, he realized that the meat was delivered well done. It was pointed out to the waitress (who was always polite) that the term was not as requested. She consulted with the chef, who indicated that it was my friend's fault that the steak was overcooked because he had allowed time to eat the steak, which seemed illogical to us. We were given a meat but this time cooked to 3/4. Since my friend did not want to return the plate again, he decided to eat it (although he was uncomfortable doing it (we were starving 😶).
However, what surprised us more was that the breaded chicken strips we ordered for a young kid tasted funny (kind of spoiled) , so we told the waitress about it and she kindly gave us another plate of chicken strips which we didn't feel confident eating. The service of the waitress was good BUT the attitude of the chef or the person in charge of the kitchen was...
Read moreThe service started off well—staff were friendly and welcoming. I ordered the fish cakes as an appetizer and the salmon linguine as my main. While the appetizer was decent, the main course was a major letdown. The salmon linguine arrived looking completely unappetizing—soupy, sloppy, and poorly presented. It honestly resembled something from a cafeteria, not a restaurant of this caliber.
I politely expressed my concern to the waitress, who took the dish back. A short time later, the supervisor, Clayton, came to my table—not to offer a resolution, but to inform me the dish would not be removed from the bill. The chef didn’t come out to address the issue or even acknowledge the complaint, and instead had Clayton return the plate.
I paid for the dish, though I didn’t eat it, and left extremely disappointed. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning, and I’ll be advising friends visiting Barbados to steer clear of West Bar. A good dining experience is about more than service—it’s about respect for the food and...
