When we arrived the maitre 'd was having a vigorous argument with the barman. He asked us if we had a reservation, and we said no. He then said wait please, and then the barman and he continued their energetic argument which carried on for at least 5 minutes while we waited quietly on the sideline. I couldn't believe it actually. Then we got our table. Then I found it was sticky with spilled food or drink. I asked for a wet wipe down but they bought out large napkins to cover the sticky surface. Good solution. We ordered drinks they came, and were good. Though they mixed up our order, but I spotted the error and switched them. We ordered food and it came not quickly but in good time. I ordered the Market Fish of the Day Platter, which was EXCELLENT!! My girl ordered the trio of buns/sliders which she said was also great. So top marks for the food. While we were talking a waitress busted in on our conversation and asked me if I had finished my drink. I said no. she went to take it away. I said no I have not finished, she then asked me again so have you finished your drink, so I rather rudely and loudly said No I have NOT finished my drink....this upset my girl, because I was rude. So the waitress broke into our enjoyable conversation over an enjoyable meal in a very lovely setting by trying to take away a drink which I had not finished. Who trains these guys? Obviously not the management. My girl had our parking ticket and on the website. She said it said that the restaurant would validate our parking for 2 hours. But when she asked the waiter he told her that she had to pay the parking as we left the park. She asked again about validation of parking but he did not understand what she was talking about. We just decided to get out of the place then and there. I got the bill and of course there is a service fee of 12.5% and also another 2.5% fee for market food...?????? And while paying by card the waiter asked me if I wanted to make a tip payment. I quickly told him that I had already paid, without being asked a 12.5% service fee. He looked hurt and confused. This is a great place to go for the food, in our experience but not the service. We had a great meal with fabulous friendly and quick service at the Sea Cat just a little further up the road a few days before this. We recommend Sea Cat over and above the...
Read moreWe were very excited to have dinner here but we left feeling very disappointed.
The decor, hostess and drinks were 10/10. After being seated our server, Shanika/Shamika, introduced herself to us and then disappeared. The biggest complaint for us was that we were ignored and without service for very long periods of time. Our sever never came back to our table and we watched all other tables receiving service, some of them from her. We could not and still do not understand what could have happened that resulted in us being treated like that. The young man who eventually came to our table, after being waved at by someone else to check on us, was sweet, but spilled water on my wife's lap. This led to Shanika/Shamika finally making an appearance, to apologize and at that point we really weren't interested in interacting with her.
When we finally got our appetizers we were disappointed. We were able to eat one of them, but we just couldn't make the gnocchi dish work for us. At that point we decided to just get the check and get dinner elsewhere. Shanika/Shamika returned again, only to apologize about the water spill and we should have told her then, that we were not upset about that at all but with the poor service that we received. She also told us that since our card was international we had to be charged in US, which no other place had ever said to us, so we did find that strange. We've been charged in BBD everywhere else, even at the small grocery store, so the fact that an establishment like this was unable to do that also, was surprising.
Overall we just cannot recommend this place and while we enjoyed the drinks and could sit at the bar we've chosen not to return. We do not want to risk being treated poorly and the food is definitely not...
Read moreThe Bearded Rose restaurant is located in Limegrove Mall in Holetown. The menu offers both small dishes or larger offerings. I had the beef sliders and was very happy with the dish. You get 3 sliders. They are very tasty and moist. We also shared truffle fries. They are really good and the portion is large enough for 2 to share. My friends had coconut shrimp and fish sliders. The shrimp looked great. The sliders come in squid ink buns and my friend said they were delicious. Our server, Kerri, was friendly, efficient and paid attention to details and special requests. This was my second visit and I look forward to...
