Bay Terrace Country Club — Restaurant in New York

Just stay away. This place was awful and I think a lot of these reviews are by longtime members who are trying to keep a dying club alive.

For summer 2023 we paid $1900 for 2 kids 2 adults and we were so excited. That wore off in about a day, though. The facilities are filthy, we joined very early to get a good deal and the cleanup they promised never happened. The staff are all teenagers and no one supervises them. A lot of stuff wasn’t appropriate for a family environment. Most of the members are longtime members who want it to be the way it is forever, don’t want to see any new faces, etc. The main guy who seems to run the place is a party supply salesman who thinks he is Donald Trump or something. None of the sports or activities he sold us on came to fruition, he basically just lies and says yes to whatever you ask about to try and get you to join.

The drinking is out of control and you get everything you’d expect out of a situation like that. Someone spray painted a swastika on the wall on the way into the family changing area and management’s response was to add a little more spray paint and try to make it say “Hi :)” on its side.

There are bugs everywhere.

The club cancelled guest passes without notice as of the last week of summer as a marketing tactic. It took them close to 8 months to cough up $120 to refund 4 passes they invalidated because we said we were not renewing for another year. It was like dealing with a scammer, the check was always “in the mail” and then “must’ve gotten lost” and then “the office was closed” until I gave an ultimatum and had it in like 2 days.

The kiddy pool was broken the entire summer, the big pool doesn’t get covered overnight so it’s always just a little too cold to be enjoyable.

The club is also losing its parking lot.

Agree times ten with the previous comment about the deteriorating club. My biggest issue was the way I was treated as a new member. Watched like hawk. Told I couldn’t touch the umbrellas. “Therapy dogs” passed around the pool deck as dog hair scattered around the pool. An elderly lady volunteer even screamed at me and mocked my profession in a tantrum when she went into crisis over a rude member who made fun of my son. Message me for even more stories. Hoping to find a new club that embraces their members rather than isolates them. The only good thing is that the babies are innocent and didn’t realize all the mean adults surrounding them. They loved the swimming. Pool 5 stars. The people. 1star. Would...

This poor Club is deteriorating. You got a bunch of teenagers running the show that don’t know how to handle anything very rude staff. The pool is falling apart. People pay so much money and they have all these strict rules. You can’t even enjoy it here anymore. this place has gone to garbage bunch of older nasty women dictating what goes on in there...
