Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in New York

My boyfriend and I don’t really eat in the area, but we both haven’t had Outback in a while so we were excited for this. The wait wasn’t too bad, 15-20 minutes and the server/staff were nice but the manager didn’t seem to care too much when we brought up an issue.

Drinks were solid, a bit watered down. We ordered the caesar salad as our starters and that’s when things fell down hill. I was saying what a decent salad it was, but my appetite was slowly diminishing when I saw a feather or a black eyebrow on my dish. I thought I was seeing things and gave my plate to my boyfriend. I just didn’t want to eat the salad anymore or touch my plate. We flagged the manager down who really did NOTHING to resolve the situation or apologize. He stared at my plate and says it doesn’t look like an eyelash 😡 so I said well it’s NOT my eyelashes cause real eyelashes don’t just fall off and it’s not my boyfriend’s eyelashes. The manager only asked if we wanted another salad and I said no thank you.

Our food came out, I ordered the sirloin & grilled shrimp combo with mac and cheese and mashed potato. My boyfriend got the sirloin and ribs with mashed potato & veggies. We both asked our sirloins to be medium rare, but mine was medium well which I could accept - not a big letdown.

My meal felt very inconsistent, but I ate as much as I can that felt edible & decent. They had forgotten my mashed potato so brought it out separately. The grilled shrimp was good, but the macaroni and cheese - oh boy… how do you mess up macaroni and cheese? It looked appetizing, but the chef added a crap load of pepper to it. I love macaroni and cheese but this was by far the worse one I’ve had.

Been going here for years then decline started - less chicken more coating then tried again, recooked chicken…from good steaks to the steaks got way to fatty - half way thru husband’s dinner I was still cutting it out"…tried ribs - .ribs fell off bone and excellent sauce…then later ribs came in 2 slabs one fresh as a daisy the other not. Ordered home delivery once, ribs excellent ordered again.i threw away $80.00. Ribs overcooked but not new - charred bones on top crumbled to the touch. instead of falling off bone husband had to rip them apart.Threw them out old AND overcooked . Chicken with husband’s ribs looked like a flattened oblong muffin - I bit into it - that - was the bbq chicken but with coating, no sauce, not grilled, baked oblong hockey puck. What planet are we on? Why did I keep trying ?because before the decline every meal was great and I never went to an Outback in the south that wasn’t great. 6 shrimp ok cost $15.00. Didn’t know where dessert was before I opened ice cream - 3 or 4 very cold very heavy tasteless messes of gummy pastry.. Disgraceful. Buyer beware there are way too many positive reviews. My family usually has great experiences with the Outback franchise. However, on this particular visit in the Bayside location we were party of four and left very unhappy and disturbed by our experience. Starting from our waiter who seems very disinterested in serving/helping us to the appetizers that we ordered. With tips we spent well over $190. One of our appetizers seems like it was fried in old oil and it tasted like eating burn oil. Referring to the sampler appetizer (blooming onions). Our drinks were okay, watered down but tasted good. We never got refills on our waters. We were pretty much left to ourselves after we place our order for the entrees for at least 35 minutes before I think the manager came by and asked if we were okay. Waited another 15 minutes before our entrees arrived and when it did one of the dishes looked like it was sitting for awhile. We will not visit this location again. The womens restroom also had a non working soap and napkin dispenser. Which meant you had to wait until another patron finished washing her hand to get soap and than again you had to wait to get napkins. There is only two sinks in the...
