SFB MINSK — Restaurant in Minsk

Sometimes simple is best. That is the principle upon which SeaFoodBar is built. Just seafood, period. The selection of fish and other seadwellers is impressive. You choose your sea protein, your prep, your sauce, and your side... order a nice white (I recommend the pricier Italian), sit back, and wait for the magic. To see how fresh it all is, I got the sashimi set... it's fresh. I hadn't seen much octopus in Minsk, so decided to give it a go. It came nicely grilled with an extra sauce the waiter thought I should try. The service was very attentive and helpful overall. Don't forget about the bouillabaisse while you are here, it lives up the overall top quality of this joint. If I were to take a few points off, it would be for the oyster selection, which was just ok, and the offering could use additional dressings (Tabasco, etc) and crackers. Almost forgot the wasabi for the sashimi was skull-cracking spicy, exactly how it should be... was pleasantly surprised by this. One of the foodie gems of this city for sure, but don't expect Belarus prices here... a full dinner will set you back $50 per person --...

Fresh and good quality but very expensive seafood restaurant. I have the impression that plain dishes like oysters or grilled seafood are the best bets here. The grilled scallops are tender and delicious, the grilled octopus is quite tender as well but the taste only comes from the caramelized sauce. More complicated dishes like bisque or scallop tar tare were good but far from being great to my taste, still among best ones in Minsk. There is pretty little space inside and it's not very comfortably organized but still the place is packed pretty much all the time. The staff is very polite and the food is fresh and delicious for sure, but it's not enough to fill you up and it's notoriously expensive! My biggest problem with this restaurant which I visited 3 times now is that their menu has no pictures for the dishes on offer! Just dry and boring text describing the fish name, so you have no idea what you are going to get? The waitress spends 10 to 15 mins describing the dish, which is a complete waste of their time and clients time because they could solve this problem by just providing pictures of the dishes.
