I stumbled upon this place on my first night in Brussels and it turned out to be such a gem! We ordered the chicken pie and a tomato-based prawn pasta—honestly one of the best meals my partner and I have had in a long time. The homemade chili was the perfect touch: spicy, flavorful, and absolutely addictive. We loved it so much that we came back the next night. This time we ordered the beef stew (super delicious, rich, and hearty!) and the prawn pasta again. The pasta came in a cream sauce instead of tomato, which wasn’t quite to my taste, but still tasty overall. Another highlight was their cocktails—you can ask the bartender for custom creations. The strawberry mojito and pineapple mojito were both refreshing and really well made. The staff here are incredibly warm and welcoming. Dining here feels like being part of their family. Definitely a spot I’d recommend to anyone visiting Brussels!

I made a reservation for two people at Brasseire Saint Nicolas through TripAdvisor. We arrived for dinner around 9:00 pm for dinner on 12/26/22. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the two young people who work in the restaurant. The restaurant has potential, but the experience was terrible. We ordered the cheese croquette and fries as starters. To accompany a French wine that was suggested by the house. For main course we ordered a steak and chips, without salad. When the dish arrived, we were told that the potato had run out and they will serve the dish with salad. When the bill arrived, they still wanted to charge an additional amount for the poavre sauce that we hadn't even asked for. Expensive restaurant and very poor quality for the price. We spend about 70 euros. Not worth it. There are other cheaper and better options.

Great Belgian classics at a local hangout! Visiting from the great US food city of Chicago, every meal we’ve had in Brussels has been great. Our dinner at Brasserie Saint Nicolas was a best of the best experience. A waiter who spoke perfect English, full of good cheer, humor and generosity of spirit. He loved introducing us to Belgium’s delights. Flavorful shrimp croquette and a cheese croquette. A pot of tender mussels cooked in beer, mushrooms and ham “Bruxelloise” local style, with a side of that same beer on the side. After a day of great Belgian meals we didn’t have room for dessert, so our waiter gave us a small complementary scoop of melon sorbet. It was bursting with ripe melon flavor! We’ll be back to try more of the menu.

BUG IN FOOD - We were kind of excited to go here since it was raining and it was on of the few places open on a Monday. Owner/Bartender/Server (not sure exactly who he was) was kind upon greeting, brought us over bread and olives. My fiancé was down to the last few olives when he noticed a bug sitting on one. It was like a baby cockroach or some kind of similar looking bug. Server was not understanding when we said we wanted to cancel the order and pay for the drinks (1 beer and a water, which to be honest, should’ve been free at that point). He gave us a hard time saying the kitchen had started cooking and did we want to bring it for take away. We didn’t want it..period. No one even seemed bothered or sorry about the situation. Would NOT...
