Bar Chapel | Where Cultures Met Flavors
Bar Chapel in Borgerhout has been one of Antwerp’s most special hidden gems and hearing that it’s closing its doors at this location feels like the end of an era. ( they are scouting for another location)
I’ve been visiting for years and every time I walked through those doors I felt like I was stepping into a space that truly embraced the spirit of the neighborhood, diverse, vibrant and full of life. Borgerhout itself is a beautiful mosaic of cultures and Bar Chapel reflected that energy perfectly.
The concept was brilliant. Every week a different restaurant would take over the kitchen offering a rotating menu that kept things fresh and exciting. The chalkboard agenda added a charming touch letting you know who was cooking that week. Ordering was simple and modern. Just scan the QR code select your food and drinks and don’t forget to add your table number.
And what a vibe it was. Families with kids couples on dates groups of friends catching up over beers, girls’ nights, solo visitors soaking in the ambiance, everyone fit in at Bar Chapel. The atmosphere was cozy tranquila romantic and welcoming. It was a place where you could unwind connect and be surprised by the food. Open from 10:00 to 00:00 it offered the perfect setting for everything from morning coffee to late night chats.
Bar Chapel wasn’t just a bar it was a feeling. A place that made you feel at home even if you were just passing through. I’ll miss the laughter the flavors the warmth and the beautiful mix of people that made it so special.
Thank you Bar Chapel for all the...

While it continues in its function as a co-working space throughout the year, the bar and restaurant are closed since October. The reopening is planned for June 2020 (I hope). Bar Chapel has a very spacious inner patio, with room for up to a hundred people, room for children to play and big parties to cozily group together. There’s no service to the tables, so expect to stand in line a few times at the bar. Service is pretty quick though, so no really worries there. On Sundays the barbecue area is free for everyone to use, you only need to pay for your plates...
Read moreChill place, nice vibes, super kid friendly which is nice... The only problem for me, is that once again, when you don't have Payconiq nor Bancontact apps to pay you're the oddball. I know this is Antwerp and most people have these payment options but it would be nice for restaurants and places to consider people without Belgian apps or bank accounts to make payment easier. Luckily, they were fine with just paying by card at the bar, but they always say "normally it's not like this", well, some people just can't do it otherwise, so deal with it. :) other than...
