Burgerij Eilandje — Restaurant in Antwerp

IT WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. For starters, they mixed up our order and were not responsible for it. We had to settle for a hamburger that we did not order and no one offered us a change or an apology despite the fact that at all times we were nice to the staff. Second, before ordering we explicitly asked them to charge us on separate invoices for business expense purposes, and they agreed; when it was time to pay they refused to do it and created a single invoice. Only after half an hour of discussion and after speaking with three different waiters they complied to do what we kindly asked them to do since the beginning. They were extremely resistant to correcting their mistake. It was very outrageous that when we asked for water we were charged €5 for a bottle! Is that normal in Belgium? It seemed like a scam to us. In conclusion, we are left with a bitter taste of having received very unkind treatment, even disdain. I would like to believe that it was not because we were foreign tourists. I regret having spent my money...

A real meat factory. Everything needs to go as fast as possible. I went there with a friend who is lactose intolerant. She took ofcourse something she could eat. The waitress did put the dishes on the table and left without saying what the dish was that my friend ordered. So we started eating in the hope we got the right dish.

But suddenly we asked if we were eating the right dish and she took back the plates. We ate maybe half of it and my friend took some pills for not becoming sick. We did not know what was happening so we tought we would get our meal back or get an explenation.

After I became angry with them they gave me some options. We can give you something to drink but you have to move because we need to give your table to somebody else. They put us somewhere in the back.

We made a reservation for 16:30 and the restaurant was quite empty when we arrived. It took at least 20 minutes before anyone came to take a drink order. We ordered white beer but receive blonde beer. We also ordered gepofte aardappel and the meal arrived with a plain potato. After bringing this to the attention of the waitress, she said she was checking on this but did not check with the kitchen. We reminded her again 5-10 minutes later after finishing the rest of our meal and she finally went to the kitchen to check. Another 5 minutes later, we only received the toppings for one of our potatoes and not both. The bathroom was also covered in water with nothinf to dry your hands with. At least the burger tasted good.. needless to say I will not come back.
