Passed by this place last week and looked very inviting so decided to go for it couple of days later. My expectations were high to try a real Sicilian quality pizza in Antwerp. The owner is very friendly, learned Dutch well and can help himself talking it. (With a lovely Italian accent!)
Pizza looked beautiful but it honestly was a bit.. tasteless. Hard to explain but something was missing. Decided to add salt and pepper and was a bit better but still, a bit disappointed to be honest.
Then about the prices, they are way above average in Antwerp and I don't mind to pay a bit more for Sicilian quality but the prices did not really make sense. Since I am a vegetarian, I took the Vegetariana which was basically a Margherita with some veggies. But the Vegetariana is 5 euros more expensive. Also, the Vegetariana is 2 euros more expensive than a Calzone.
Since I really like the owner and his vision, I am still going to rate it 4 stars, hoping the feedback will be taken into...
Read moreDelicious pizzas, no reservation needed or required ( the place is quite small so they don't take reservations anyways). We arrived on an eaely friday evening and we were served in less than 15min, freshly made pizza with amazing flavors! Definitely a place to return to try other delicious types of pizza. Had diavola, mortadella & pistachio with a canollo for dessert.
Kalura is a cozy, authentic Italian spot known for its delicious, wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas. The dough is light and perfectly chewy, topped with fresh, quality ingredients like San Marzano tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who enhance the dining experience. Often praised for its genuine Italian flavors and relaxed vibe, Kalura is a top choice for pizza lovers looking for a slice of...
Read moreA small, cosy, and unassuming pizza place. The location is convenient, but the unfortunate construction site right across is a sight for sore eyes. The pizza is definitely very tasty. We tried the Diavola and Porcellina, and personally, I preferred the Diavola. However, it's definitely more on the expensive side!
Given the higher price point, I would have expected slightly better service. We'd ordered (and paid upfront on the app) for two beers, and only one was served. After multiple rounds of back and forth and trying to get the attention of the server, we were able to get the drink after we were over half way through the meal. Not the end of the world, but it slightly dampened the experience for us.
Overall, Kalura is worth a try, but do note the small space, higher prices and potential...
