We visited this place on a sunny Sunday morning at 10.30 end of April. Seemed like a very popular place so we reserved 2 days in advance. Their terrace was full. People seemed to have their coffees, for what I could see. We presented ourselves to the lady working at the take away counter - the only employee we saw at the time. We mentioned we had a reservation, she did not even want to know our names and told us we could pick a table inside. We picked the corner ends of what seemed to be the reading table of around 10 chairs so we both could see outside. The lady shouted throughout the room that we are only allowed to pick a table for 2. I walked towards her, asked her if she was expecting a group of 12, I believe she replied "possibly". I mentioned again that I reserved 2 days in advance - for breakfast , Antwerp is busy! - and I asked her for a table outside. Of course they were all occupied, but I did not mind to wait. In any case she said that reservations are always for inside. So we sat down at a table inside. We Waited only for about 5 minutes and we noticed that no other client inside had drinks, no one was offered a menu, we gathered this was a highly understaffed place! Perhaps someone called in sick? A couple decided to leave, a lady of a group of 4 asked for service, and that’s when we decided to leave. Luckily enough there were other breakfast options very near and we managed to get a table at an easy going breakfast-only place with outstanding service and very friendly staff.
I am sure they have the best quality coffee, their reviews are great! I know others are very pleased with this place. We were just not able to judge for ourselves…. Very...
Read moreThe coffee: great. Food: great. Service, amazing. The waitress with curly hair is very sweet every time I am here and always manages to make it a positief experience .. Why 2 stars?…the workers are working like crazy every time I come here, specially on the weekends. Why is there no help for them? Waiting time of 40+ minutes for food when it is busy, waiting time of 30 minutes for coffee. Too many people with not enough staff. What is the manager doing? This is totally unfair for the customers who have to wait, and very hard to watch the waitresses and a alone coffee maker behind the machine going crazy to be fast enough before the people’s complaining comes (which I’m sure happens often). The staff are very very kind and always apologise and try to make everybody happy, but the management needs to do something about this. Really not ok, and I feel so sorry for the staff every time, it looks like modern day slavery from sitting at the table and watching... I will not come here anymore, only for...
Read moreNice brunch spot in the heart of Antwerp. I’m gluten free so luckily they had GF options available (though for an extra charge of €2). I specifically asked for the eggs Benedict’s to be harder and even the waitress acknowledged she’ll ask the kitchen, they didn’t accommodate the request. We also had to wait for 40+ mins for our food to arrive which is not acceptable. The stuff should’ve at least informed us about the waiting time and/or give us updates after some time.. but no, there was no communication at all. I understand it was Sunday and a bit busy (probably slightly busier than usual) but having 2 people working in the kitchen and preparing food for 60+ individuals is not feasible (either extend the kitchen, hire more stuff, do more food preparation in advance or reduce restaurant’s capacity otherwise ppl would be waiting for more than an hour for just a slice of bread with ham and eggs…). The food was nicely made, it was delicious and very...
