L'Officina da Franco & Giacomo — Restaurant in Antwerp

Terrible waiter ! Me and my Italian bf heard lots of great stuff so we went to check it out. But found out really fast that the waiter was the rudest man ever to exist in hospitality!!

So basically I wanted a carpaccio with some potatoes on the side since there were no other gluten free options. The waiter told me that this was a restaurant and don't give out only starters and I couldn't order that. I kindly asked him whether he had any options for me that were gluten free. The man got so frustrated explaining this was a restaurant and just asked us to leave.

I've never ever felt so offended. First of I come to spend my money at your restaurant so it's only normal I order whatever I want especially if you can't suggest any other options, 2nd of all you shouldn't be working in a restaurant if you behave to people like this, he was Behaving the same with a very friendly and funny table next to us. You know: it’s hard to give a place like this less than 5 stars really: simply because I see how hardworking these people are and how connected they are to their business. That being said, I try to be honest in my experience and feedback, so: I recommend booking a table at l’officina da F&G because the classic level of their dishes is spot on. The ingredients are right, the preparation seems exactly as needed. What bothers me is the interior and the way the dishes are presented. Maybe a bit too “standard” classic? Also the artwork and surroundings could do with something more modern-hip. Or better yet, embrace the old school Italian way. Just not this. And I know it has nothing to do with the food, in a way. This place has it just right. The service is exceptional without making you feel uncomfortable. This place really has the Italian essence you'd expect. Now, the service is very good, but the food is at least equally great. Pizza is baked like it should be, thin crispy crust with just the right amount of garnishing.
