We went today and it first it looked nice, great prices and great variety of food, but as soon as we went in the lady there took almost ten minutes to take acknowledge us, she didn't even say hi because she was speaking to other costumers who already had their food. When we ordered she was really nice and everything, but then we ate the food and I started to feel an alergic reaction coming in, so my friend who wanted to order a dessert went inside and took the opportunity to ask about my alergies (cilantro and peanut), the guy in the back admitted that the sandwich (hannibal veggie style) had cilantro powder and "loads of peanut butter", this was stated NOWHERE in the menu, I am lucky that my allergies are not deadly, and I understand not saying it has cilantro powder since it's not a common allergy, but peanut is a really common allergy which in a lot of cases is very severe, I think this is very irresponsable coming from a food buisness and a safety hazard. Then the lady asked to my friend why were they asking and they responded "just to know", because they could do nothing about my reaction anyway, I already took medicine and they couldn't really help, it was just to confirm I was in fact having a reaction and why. This whole conversaction went down in english, then the lady, in dutch, thinking my friend didn't understand her, when in fact they had spoken in dutch before, said something along the lines of "we have a lot of weird people coming in today, really weird" which is at the least an insulting thing to say to someones face. We were looking forward to come back, but after this incident combined with the little things stated before (making us wait, etc.) we are not so keen of doing so anymore. It's not their fault I have allergies (even though they could warn people as it's usually done...), but calling us weird for asking what the food has which I have done before and I think it's a very normal common thing is plain rude. At least the food was cheap and...
Read moreAn amazing breakfast/ lunch place with a great variety of sandwiches and salads, as the name suggests.
When I mean great variety, I mean a GREAT variety. It took my partner and I a while to decide after staring at the menu for at least 5 minutes. I chose a Brie sandwich with some added things and my partner chose the bbq pulled pork one. Both tasted phenomenal and they were only 5.90 each for the large version. As most know, large sandwiches like these with that many toppings are much more expensive in larger cities like Antwerpen so we were pleasantly surprised.
Aside from sandwiches they also had homebaked goods and the usual bakery items + drinks. The people were very kind when they take your order and they work very fast for such a small place (it was clear these people have been working there forever and enjoy doing so)
Only downside was the longer waiting line that I wasn’t expecting since the place wasn’t necessarily in a busy area, I suppose it is just that popular. You can order online until 10.00 and pick it up at 11.30 earliest so that would save some time for sure, we’re doing that next time. Waiting time took about 20 min but it...
Read moreI was staying at a nearby hotel where the breakfast was average, so visited this shop 4 times for breakfast/lunch. The sandwiches/rolls made to order, plus good selection of cakes/tarts. They have a massive selection. The rolls had a nice crust and soft centre and the fillings were all excellent. They told me they bake all the bread/cakes in store, and all the fillings are hand made on site where possible. It really shows in their quality. 1 morning there was a small wait as 5-6 people were queuing, but this is to be expected given they make to order. It seems a popular place...
