Where to begin... Many people and societies don't like being called out or being made to feel racist despite exhibiting racist and discriminatory behavior. A psychological disconnect that is sadly prevalent these days.

As an American of African descent, I often experience a completely lower, passive-aggressive, unfriendly and less-helpful reception when traveling in Europe. Especially in countries like Hungary and Italy which, based upon my travel experiences, are societies rampant with animosity towards dark-skinned people of African descent.

While feeling my way through Antwerp for the first time in April 2023, I chanced upon the Lush store near the Alt Stadt. Knowing that soaps make great gifts, I decided to stop in. Never knowing what kind of reception to receive because so many people dislike 'Black' folks, I had the most wonderful, fun and helpful experience in this store. The staff were helpful, knowledgeable and very kind. We had fun!

I had such a wonderful time that every city I have visited thereafter, I stop in to say hello to the staff.

I have been a loyal customer of LUSH Cosmetics in Antwerp for several years, particularly for their unique range of solid perfumes. Each year, I eagerly purchase 'Breath of God', a personal favorite. On my most recent visit, I decided to try something new and opted for the 'Karma' solid perfume along with the 'Karma' body shampoo.

The experience at LUSH is always delightful, not just because of their high-quality products, but also due to the added bonus of receiving samples to try. These little testers are a thoughtful touch, allowing customers to explore different scents and products.

I have been there with my daughter last Saturday. The employee who explained us everything, Jamie, was very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Jamie showed extra attention to my four-year-old daughter and they checked/examined some of the products together. For example, they poured foamy water from one bucket to another, my daughter was able to wash her hands with a slime-like soap etc. She had so much fun thanks to Jamie.
