Geeky Cauldron — Restaurant in Antwerp

Food:

Not really anything to eat besides tiny snacks such as cheese cubes and sausage slices. The drinks and cocktails are superb however. EVERYTHING on the menu (except potato chips) is themed after fantasy/Sci-Fi. Examples are: "You Shall Not Passoa","Dark Prince","Health/Mana Potion", etc. They're all mixed by the absolutely lovely staff who are always up for a talk. They also have amazing meads and tons of drinks. You are allowed to order food to be delivered here or take takeaway into the bar.

Service: The staff is incredibly nice (just don't forget to say thank you or please unless you want 70 years of bad luck) They are super inclusive and nonjudgemental. They even have a lgbt+ flag coloured shield up and a sign up telling you this isn't a place to just pick girls (or guys) and that offenders or touchy people will be escorted out. This bar is pretty much a safe space for anyone and anything.

Atmosphere: Lovely party nights where you can enter even when not dressed up, lot's of unique people, anything goes, pretty much. The entire bar is split in half with a sci-fi theme and a fantasy theme both decorated perfectly. The fantasy one is my favorite however. It even has a bathroom hidden behind a movable book case

Tl;DR: Amazing inclusive place with amazing drinks amd amazing atmosphere. Probably accept English...

I had a drink for a friend's birthday here. The owner is a very nice man. He was friendly, patient while we were ordering and even offered to take a picture of us all when one of us was taking one of the group. What struck me most was -obviously- the setting. I couldn't keep my eyes off the walls which were filled with all sorts of potions, books and that sort of stuff. Even the drinks on the menu were in theme! Fortunately, all drinks have a short explanation so you do know what you're ordering! The place itself was comfortable. The temperature was just right, the seats were not amazingly comfortable, but not bad either. They fit well within the decor. My only remark is the light. I understand that the near-darkness helped to create an atmosphere but I would have liked a bit more light, especially in the bathrooms. Talking about those, I adore how they are hidden behind a bookshelf. It's a really fun way to integrate it into the decor. I must confess that I was mildly infuriated by the fact that the door doesn't close all the way (or maybe when you push extremely hard). All in all a nice place to...

Mijn favoriete plek om heen te gaan!

Op dinsdag is het altijd een leuke samenkomst onder de vrienden. Een theetje of een drankje derbij en de sfeer zit er ook goed in. In de weekends zijn er ook vaak feestjes voorzien in verschillend thema's

Jammer genoeg ligt de straat nu even open, maar dat houd ons niet tegen voor ons wekelijks bezoek. - Dit is ondertussen al opgelost!!

Voor de geïnteresseerden, is er ook steeds een studentenvereniging aanwezig. Dit zijn Mythica (in trend van Geeky en dit jaar ook anime) en Flamingo's (in trend van LGBTQ). Mythica zal elke donderdag langs komen, flamingo's iets minder.

Als je echt eens iets nieuws van cocktail wil drinken, kom je best eens langs. Er zijn tal van leuke cocktails in verschillende thema's. Ook zijn er verschillende soorten aan bieren en mede (een soort honingwijn volgens Google:) ). Je zal er echt wel iets vinden naar eigen smaak. Ook zijn er verschillende soorten theetjes en zijn er ook ondertussen Hot chocolates die je zelf kan samenstellen!

In The Geeky voorzien ze je zeker van je veiligheid. We staan vaak met een grote groep buiten en af en toe zijn er wel mensen die voorbij wandelen waar je u vragen bij kunt stellen. Maar als je merkt dat iemand je lastig valt, al is het een voorbijganger of een consument binnen in de Cauldron, kan je zeker iemand aanspreken. De barmannen/ eigenares zullen je zeker verder helpen maar ook de consumenten die aanwezig zijn. Ik zie the Cauldron ook als één grote community.

The Geeky Cauldron is ook altijd in verandering! Er zijn vaak aanpassingen die je doen verwonderen. De toiletten zijn enorm omgebouwd of geschilderd wat 'naar toilet gaan' echt een leuke ervaring maakt. Ook zullen er naar de toekomst toe leuke props worden gehangen in the Cauldron! Maar shtt ik heb het je niet gezegd. ;)

Eten voorzien ze niet. Mits je zelf een drankje neemt (of meerdere) staat de bazin Hannah het ook toe om zelf eten te laten leveren of gewoon ter plekke iets van je eigen te eten.

Studeren kan er zeker ook. Maar dan kom je best een paar keer langs of in het weekend vanaf 14u. De ene moment is het super rustig en de andere is het druk met veel gezelligheid.
