Who doesn’t like chocolate? A crazy person if you ask me. If you’re a chocolate lover this will be a treat for you to read. But if you’re on a diet right now this is not a safe place for you, make run for it while you can! The second you start reading you will begin fantasizing about Quetzal Antwerp.

The chocolate moelleux is absolutely amazing. It is served with a scoop of chocolate or vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and a dollop of whipped cream. The chocolate filling is very decadent yet at the same time doesn’t feel too heavy. The cake part itself is very airy and fluffy.

The menu is quite extensive. It contains everything you can think of when you think about chocolate. The chocolate bar has a nice variety of cakes, brownies, waffles and many more desserts. What’s amazing about the menu is the fact that the drinks section is quite extensive also. There are a few different flavors of milkshakes, warm drinks and sodas.

The prices are superb. In comparison to the service, the portions and location the prices are really amazing. The desserts and drinks are very affordable for everybody.

It’s a great spot for a casual dessert date, chocolate lovers and basically everybody who is in the mood for a delicious chocolatey dessert or nice drinks. You will guaranteed get a nice experience and dessert for a fair price. Simply a definite...

Their chocolate game is strong but my American tastebuds found it a bit underwhelming. Drinks are served with a complimentary brownie bite. We got the Mexican hot chocolate with milk chocolate (this was a mistake, get the dark chocolate instead) and a chai latte. The hot chocolate was tasty, but the chai latte was verrrry mild - there was no smell or taste of cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, etc. It was essentially a delicate milk with steamed milk on top. The prices were affordable (4,30 for hot chocolate and 3 for chai) so I'm sure we'll be back. I'll stick to their chocolate products...

Ik kom al jaren bij Quetzal in Antwerpen en het is elke keer weer een beetje thuiskomen in de chocoladehemel. Als je van chocolade houdt, dan zit je hier echt goed. De kaart staat vol met heerlijke chocoladedranken, desserts en milkshakes die je doen smelten van geluk. Over het algemeen is de kwaliteit heel constant en voel je dat er gewerkt wordt met goede ingrediënten.

Toch viel mijn laatste bezoek me een beetje tegen. Ik had zoals wel vaker een milkshake besteld, maar die smaakte dit keer heel flauw. Het leek op een waterige versie van wat ik gewoonlijk krijg. Alsof er wat minder chocolade of andere ingrediënten gebruikt werden. Dat vond ik jammer, zeker omdat de prijzen hier aan de hogere kant zijn. Hopelijk was dit gewoon een mindere dag, want normaal zijn die milkshakes echt top.

Wat wel altijd in orde is, is het personeel. De sfeer is vriendelijk, vrolijk en losjes. Ze doen hun best om je welkom te laten voelen en dat lukt meestal ook, zelfs als het druk is. En druk is het hier bijna altijd. De zaak is ruim, maar de tafeltjes staan vrij dicht bij elkaar waardoor het snel luid en rumoerig wordt. Als je gevoelig bent voor prikkels of op zoek bent naar rust, dan kan dat een beetje te veel zijn.

Een ander puntje is het toilet. Daar is zeker nog wat werk aan. Je moet eerst een steile trap af waar je best goed op let. Eens beneden zijn er twee toiletten, maar die zijn niet altijd even schoon. En de opening onderaan de deur is opvallend groot, wat niet echt een comfortabel gevoel geeft.

Al bij al blijf ik Quetzal een fijne plek vinden. Het is een originele zaak met een duidelijk concept en meestal erg lekkere dingen. Er zijn wat verbeterpunten, maar ik kom zeker nog terug voor mijn portie...
