Panos Rail Brugge (Stationsplein) — Restaurant in Bruges

The "Panos experience" tends to be similar across the country, one doesn't go to a Panos with high expectations for wonderful food.

Having that said it is important to say that the quality of what you get is greatly improved if you happen to pass by in the morning. Early in the day the pastries will be warm and flaky, the sandwich bread will still have a nice crunch. You shouldn't expect your pastry to remain as crisp and delicious if you go late in the day.

If it is hot and it is the summer, stay away from premade sandwiches and salads. There's a chance your gut may not handle something suspicious forgotten on a lettuce leaf in the heat, and that's valid for all Panos in Belgium.

The sausage rolls tend to be decent, but like everything that has puff pastry, the sooner you get it after it was baked, the better, or else it'll be mushy.

In Bruges particularly I tend to pass by in the morning and their morning staff has always been very friendly, attentive, and polite. So it feels particularly nice.

Having said it all, the staff I came across at the Panos in Bruges is very nice and it makes the experience nicer.

The food will be best once a new batch is fresh off the oven, other than that most of what is available sitting in the shelves is "okay", at least from my experience.

The coffee is alright, it'll give you a caffeine fix. The prices are a bit high for what the shop offers, but well, it's Belgium and it is what it is.

A Panos is a place you pass by when you're on your way to somewhere else, it's not a place anyone goes to because they planned and want to be there. Up till now no complaints but this morning OMG. Girl at cashier busy texting, finally she asks me what I want without looking up. Further no acknowledgment of my order whatsoever just keeps texting, still without looking up. Finally she does take my order and puts my waffle in the oven. Then another customer spills their coffee. Ordered the breakfast deal but due to their system with ordering food with one person and coffee/drinks + paying with the other staff member, I was charged the items all separately. We hadn't even left the counterside as we were still waiting for the coffees when informed the staff member of the mistake and she insisted that we couldn't get refunded the difference between we ordered small drinks but the breakfast deal only applied to large. The other staff member had already brought us the large drink and she waved him away despite my insistence that we ordered the breakfast deal.
