We have eaten at Ribs' n Beer 4 times in the past 4 years and left after each occasion with full bellies, huge smiles and a desire to return the next night for more. In short, this place is really good, something that rib fans are going to love if you can manage to secure a reservation during your intended visit to Bruges.
Opening hours are 6pm to 10 or 11pm each evening and we have found them very full when dining here in the past, always turning away walk-in requests. As such, do try to make reservation through their website prior to your trip to Bruges to avoid disappointment.
Menu includes a range of food options but the vast majority come here for the 'All You Can Eat Ribs' for €19.90 per person. During our last visit, we discovered that they had increased their rib options a bit. Now you have choices of Traditional (Chef's special rub) or three types of slow cooked (Smokey, Spicy or Chocolate & Beer).
We went with the spicy ribs which we've much enjoyed in the past. I'm sure the other flavours are just fine but its difficult to move on from such delicious servings. Ribs are slow-cooked, meat just slides right off the bone. The BBQ sauce is sweet and the chilli bits added, give it a real kick - a delectable combination. Ribs are served with fries and a small serving of slaw. You can reorder as many of the ribs as you like, staff will come around occasionally to ask if you want more.
As this is Belgium, expect a nice range of beers on the drink list. I find the St. Bernardus, a strong and flavourful dark beer to complement the spicy ribs very well. Wine and soft drinks are also available.
Tip: Save your tummy space for this meal. Go light on breakfast, lunch and your chocolate and speculoos samplings during the day. You'll be happy you did when ordering that second or third round of ribs at...
Read moreOverall. A very nice local place with fantastically good slow cooked ribs. I’ll put it 5 stars for the ribs and 4 stars for service due to waiting time in rush hour. But overall it’s 5 stars. The people there are also very pleasant and polite.
Price. The portion of “all you can eat” ribs costs 26€. Other dishes in the menu are on average 15-25€ per main course.
What to eat? I do recommend you to try exactly the slow cooked with a barbecue sauce. The meat is very well cooked, falls off the bone when you eat it. I’ve tried the chocolate sauce and apple wasabi as well - did not like it that much. Chocolate sauce is a little sour with a little of dark chocolate aftertaste. Apple wasabi has an intense smell of wasabi, perhaps making it a little more sweet should solve it.
When you finish your main dish you can order another one or half or even 1/3 of the portion with another sauce.
This place offers other dishes as well, but so far I’ve tried only their famous ribs. It’s totally worth it.
What to drink? In Ribs ‘n Beer there’s a great variety of bottled beers and also beers on tap. With your meat I recommend you to try the local beer Brugste Zot Blond (on tap) or the Trappist beer Orval (bottled).
Warning ⚠️ If you’re struggling with weight control or sitting on a diet this place is definitely not for you. Ribs may seem a bit fat, and eating it too much with beer may result in +1-1.5 kilo...
Read moreAbsolutely heavenly delicious experience! From the first steep by the entrance to the very last one leaving the place almost crawling due to food overtake it was absolutely great experience. The place has its own unique style and interior which I found nice, especially close to fireplace. The staff were absolutely running their feet as it was very busy but they made the service excellent and very quick. They were very helpful, cheerful, polite and attentive to customers needs which is always a plus. The food was absolutely amazing, definitely the best ribs I have ever had. For €23 you can have a decent portion of ribs with souce of your choice, chips and side salad. You can choose from grilled and slow-cooked ribs. You can have as much ribs as you would like to however the next portions are half portions which believe me- it's enough after the first full portion you order. We tried the speciality of the place - ribs in chocolate and beer souce however the slow-cooked ribs with wasabi and apple souce deserve a great credit too. Also we tried bbq slow-cooked ribs which were done well. Great choice of local beers and drinks. And dessert menu as well. Chocolate musse was great but definitely after so many portions of ribs was more act if greediness than hunger. Excellent place, worth visiting and tasting local specialities. I recommend booking a table in advance as it gets...
