I visited this place on 16 July 2023 around 11:30 am. I never posted a bad review about a place before but what happened to me there was very upsetting. I am a mother and I wanted to go there to have a coffee and breastfeed my baby as she was hungry suddenly while we were walking in Brussels with my husband. We entered the place and asked the waiter if we can sit for a coffee. He said “of course, inside or outside” we replied saying inside and he said sure, showed us a table. Inside was completely empty and there were only few people sitting at the outside area. I then said I will be breastfeeding so I would appreciate a table at the back (I essentially asked to sit 2 rows back in an identical table but which is a bit more far from the garden area where people are sitting. He was slightly annoyed because he has put 2 table service on these tables which would have taken him less than 5 seconds (not 10 seconds even) to take away or put pack (there were no glasses etc.) we then said it is ok he can leave the table service. he then said while removing the table service that this is not ok for him, this is a restaurant i.e. not somewhere I can come in to breastfeed my child. I then said then he should have told us no coffees from the start. He said no you can sit at this table not this one. I got really upset at this point and told him that the two tables are identical and I just wanted a place that I don’t need to showcase my breasts and breastfeed my child in peace for 10 minutes and we would drink our coffees and be gone within 15-20 mins. We ended up leaving as he was very rude and my husband wanted to leave. This is by far the worst experience I had in my life at a cafe / restaurant. I would urge any mother to avoid this place as this type of attitude is the reason why women are excluded in public spaces when they become mothers. A women asking a bit of privacy when the place is completely empty should not feel like...
Read moreWe passed during the Christmas period as a group of 7 plus a small child. They proposed a table of 4 inside with added chairs. As we were 8 in total and tables around eating, we didn't want to create a mess, so we said we will stay outside, as they had heaters. While we were settling ourselves, one of the children went to the toilet with her mother. We realized that the heaters were not strong outside and it was still really cold for the children and our mother in law,so we decided to leave. The waitress/manageress came out as quite rude when she shouted at us that we came only to use their toilet. She waited for our friend with the child to come out from the toilet to shout at her also.Bare in mind that my friend didnt even knew that we decided to leave.I explained to her that it was quite a nasty comment to do,but she looked like she was on a mission to ruin our day. I am working in the horeca domain since 20 years, and I can understand a lot of things, but being mean for free I cannot.I rarely write a comment for horeca sector, as due to my work, my expectancies are quite high, so it's better to restrain myself, but as I was wondering all day why she had to act like this when we were all polite, I realized that actually she managed to damage a quite nice day for myself and my family, which they were actually tourists. So I am writing this hoping that they are checking their reviews as they should, and keep in mind that there is a balance between controlling your business and understanding that sometimes these situation just happen and just because we touched their terrace doesn't mean we have a contract with them.Remember to stop seeing people only as numbers on a bill,...
Read moreWe had dinner at Le Faucon today. It was one of the best experience that I have had recently. I had the steak which was perfectly cooked. My wife had fish and my kids had spaghetti Carbonara. All the dishes were fantastic. They also made a tasty cocktail for my wife. The hospitality was fantastic. The owner of the restaurant and the staff go above and beyond and make sure their patrons are well taken care of. I plan to visit Le Faucon when I visit Belgium again.
In Belgium the restaurant names don’t change even if the owner, food and service have changed. Google reviews unfortunately does not understand this subtlety and merges all old reviews and new ones. The bad reviews are from previous owners, which is very unfortunate.
Make a trip to Le Faucon and you will find a hidden gem. We were fortunate to find the restaurant. I hope you will find the same joy and satisfaction that we experienced when having our...
