I saw this restaurant on Tiktok and decided to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday there. We ordered around 48 pieces and 2 drinks and we paid 45€. The price was really good compared to the amount of food we got. It tasted delicious as well. The atmosphere was really nice and the waiters/waitresses were sweet as well. However the service was not the best. We waited around 45 mins to an hour for our order. They didn’t have clean cups for our beverages so we had to wait around 15 mins to get clean cups and start drinking and then at the end when we ordered the check, the waitress made us wait 15 mins and then told us to go downstairs and pay at the counter. We took the leftovers with us and the packaging was very clean and neat.

The sushi in every Makifornia is great. So no comment about that. I just wanted to talk about the terrible customer service my friends and I experienced a month ago. We went on a Saturday quite early so it wouldn't be crowded. There was a huge queue but we decided to wait anyway. They told us that we would be seated in 15 minutes. We had to wait 1 hour and 35 minutes...The waiter was "prioritizing" people with kids who just arrived, since all of a sudden, there were free tables for them but not for the people who have been waiting for more than an hour. While we were waiting in the line, I wanted to go to the toilet so I went upstairs. Then the man behind the counter started screaming at me in French "you have to wait! Don't you see all these people waiting?". I literally told him that I've been standing in this line for 1 hour and he has seen us multiple times already and that I just wanted to go to the toilet! When we FINALLY sat down, it took them another 25 minutes to come and take our order. Then we had to wait 30 more minutes for the food. As an advice, maybe visit another Makifornia, away from these rude and cheap people.

I went there because there are many good reviews, but I was really disappointed. Let's talk about the food: The food was okay, but the rice was not cooked well. Now, about the service, it was really bad. Let me tell you why. When I went there, no one explained where to stand or how to order (it was all in French), but someone told us what to do after a few minutes. The menu was not fully in English; there were three words in English, and the rest was in French, even though I chose the English menu. When I wanted to try to order, the waitress looked at me and ignored me. Then, she went to other people. I think she didn't like Arab people or people with dark skin. She went to the people next to us to ask what they wanted to order. They told her, "Not us, them," meaning us. Anyway, if you see the girl who wears a scarf, don't call her to take your order.

There is a reason why you should read reviews before visiting a place. This restaurant has the WORST service in Brussels. We waited for over an hour and watched them take people who were behind us and seat them before us. The staff is rude, unapologetic and clearly profiled us and decided we would be their unfortunate victims. They had their 1 waitress responsible for the seating who was fiesty and arrogant. After 1hour and 10mins, we walked out without eating. More customers had left before us and I have no idea why we bothered to wait That level of customer service is really not worth your pennies. Absolute rubbish!

This place was a highlight of our weekend getaway. There’s a lift to take you to the second floor, which has a more relaxed, restaurant-like atmosphere compared to the fast-food vibe downstairs. We were also provided with a high chair for our daughter, which was really convenient. We tried two types of sushi and the Karaage Poulet bowl, which was the standout dish. It was fresh, flavourful, and very filling – we’d highly recommend it. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our visit. Great halal place to eat in.
