A surprisingly well-designed museum, showcasing the work of one of the most important living artistic figures of our day. Given Banksy specializes in street art, all of his works are more or less intrinsically tied to their geographical surroundings, which add context to the artwork. The museum does a great job of clearly indicating where each of the showcased works reside originally, which allows visitors to much better understand the potential intent behind the art. The museum even does its best to replicate the local imperfections present in the original location, which Banksy has integrated into the artwork (such as an outgrown vine becoming a man's vomit). This is a great visit for people who are both intimately familiar with Banksy's work, as well as those who have never heard of the name. Given the short visiting time, I would certainly recommend it to everyone in the area with a modicum of interest...
Read moreWe were lucky enough to come here when it was basically just us walking around. Fantastic exhibition of some of the works of Banksy. They are thought proviking and sometimes controversial in nature e.g. Toxic Mary. We were a party of 4, myself and my partner being in our 40s and our girls being 10 and 13, and all of us had things to say about multiple pieces, so a good place to get the whole family involved. It was also interesting to read about the history of some of the pieces. I say 'some of' as some pieces just have the title without explanation. We paid around 50 euro for the 4 of us, which we felt was a fair price. We visited in the early evening, around 5pm, and they had a sign showing takings of the day to be 450 euro, which was quite interesting to see! Overall, well...
Read moreThis museum gave me some deeper insight into the artist himself and his worldview. It also exposed me to more of his works which I was not aware of. It’s well done in that it makes it look like the art was done right in the building, but they’re all replicas. I’m not exactly sure how they did it all, but it’s well curated. Took about an hour to walk through. There’s a small gift shop at the end. It seemed to keep the teenage kids engaged. I love the concept of Banksy, but I don’t really agree with his politics, and this museum will take you deeper into that. E.g. The West Bank wall at the end of the museum exhibits anti-Israel tones. All fine for anyone to express views and artists can be controversial, but just an fyi for anyone reading and trying to decide whether to...
