Stepping into this cozy fast food-style Indian restaurant, you're immediately enveloped by an aroma so potent it promises to linger on your clothes long after you've left, setting a unique tone for the dining experience. Despite this immersive scent and the excitement it builds, the journey through the menu might unfold differently than anticipated.
The array of choices is impressive, aiming to cater to a variety of tastes, but it can feel overwhelming and might detract from the focus on delivering standout dishes. The vegetable curry, often a benchmark for Indian cuisine, sadly doesn’t live up to expectations, having lost its vibrant character to overcooking. Similarly, the naan bread, essential for scooping up the rich sauces, lacks the soft, fluffy quality that makes it so delightful.
However, it’s not all a tale of missed marks. The charm of the place shines through its swift service and the vibrant ambiance reminiscent of bustling Indian streets. Moreover, it's a relief to note that the restaurant isn’t overpriced, offering a somewhat solace that the value proposition isn’t entirely lost.
While the allure of a 4.4-star rating might initially set high expectations, a more nuanced reflection suggests a 4.1-star reality, adjusting for the culinary hiccups and the potent, though memorable, olfactory souvenir. This rating recalibration offers a more honest anticipation for newcomers, who can now brace for an experience that's aromatic, swift, and adequately priced, if not...

The portion sizes were very small - seemed like a regular portion cut in half. All dishes were very very oily and the ingredients, especially the meat, were low quality.
chicken soup was tasteless, just lots of water with barely any chicken.
mixed grill, despite promising a mix of lamb, two types of chicken, sheikh kebab, scampi and salad, only came with one piece of chicken and 3 pieces of lamb. The chicken was very dry. That cost 18.95!
chicken pakora and paneer pakora were extremely oily and tasteless with no sauces, salt or salad provided like every other Indian restaurant does. We couldn't finish them due to the amount of oil.
paneer jalfrezi tasted ok but nothing special, no spice in it, couldn't finish it as almost half the sauce was oil and made me sick.
chicken tikka tasted good with a nice amount of spice, but was also full of oil and the chicken was very low quality.
This felt like an absolute rip off and scam. One of the worst Indian...
Read moreI ate already indian food from a lot of different places and I have to admit that Shahi Tandor is one of the best places. The waitress is amazingly nice and so welcoming. Someone like that is rare in gastronomie. They have a big choice of vegeterian food and give you a warning if the food could be too spicy. Because they make everything fresh it is also no problem for them to make it less spicy. The food itself was very delicious and well balanced. You could feel the different tastes and it was not too edgy but still rich in flavour. All over very very enjoyable to eat. As well the prices for the amount of food are very good. I am used of paying more for sometimes even less quality. The place itself is small and cozy. It maybe needs some more decoration and details so the interiour fits to the amazing food but I'm sure they will work on that. I will...
