Le Pain Quotidien — Restaurant in Charleroi

I'm usual customer in the Charleroi cafe'. I like to have breakfast on the spot when I have time or I take away products if I'm in a hurry like yesterday (Mon 31July). After purchasing one small lemon tart and an hibiscus croissant for take away(paid at the counter) I had a quick look at the other products on the shelf like marmelade and organic coffee and then left the shop. As soon as I exit something which had never happened in my life has happened: I hear yelling at my back by one of the staff member of the café that she had seen me stealing from the shop and intimidating to go back immediately. I was quite shocked however I went back to clarify and without asking the lady of the cafe' opened my bag where I had all my purchase accusing me of theft.

After having realized I hadn't steal anything she tried to apologise but this behaviour is unacceptable. Not going back anytime soon since It's very shamefull to be treated as a theft while I'm just a customer who used to enjoy this café.

Luckily there are many others cafés in Charleroi city center who respect...

Je déjeune ou brunch au Pain Quotidien de Charleroi environ tous les 2 mois. Je prends quasiment à chaque fois la formule Manhattan. Nous avons remarqué avec mes amis que plus nous venions, plus la portion de saumon pour cette formule diminuait. Aujourd'hui, un malheureux morceau de saumon... bref, pas grave, je m'y attendais. Malheureusement à l'ouverture de mon œuf à la coque (dont le jaune est censé être mou et liquide), je découvre qu'il n'est pas du tout cuit. En effet, le jaune semble correct mais le blanc n'est cuit que sur les bords et complètement liquide pour le reste (à l'image d'une soupe nid d'hirondelles). J'en ai demandé un nouveau mais il n'y en avait apparemment plus et on m'a répondu que c'était normal, que c'était censé être comme ça (si je n'étais pas habituée à en prendre chez eux, j'aurais été d'accord mais là c'est se moquer de moi), et que comme il s'agissait d'une formule, on ne me ferait de toute façon pas de geste pour cet œuf immangeable. Que je devais bien imaginer que la cuisson dépendait de la taille de l'oeuf, que c'était un gros oeuf et qu'ils ne pouvaient pas contrôler s'ils étaient assez cuits un par un alors qu'ils les cuisent tous ensemble (ce qui pour moi est un aveu que ce n'était en fait pas si "normal" qu'on me le disait). Au vu de la qualité de moins en moins correcte du Pain Quotidien de Charleroi, je me rendrai dorénavant dans d'autres enseignes de la chaîne, en espérant qu'ils aient conservé leurs...

This is a great spot for breakfast and sweets. They have real Belgian hot chocolate and tons of organic options for breakfast. The only thing that I would improve is the quality of their coffee. Let's just say is not the best you could have in a place like this and definitely is not at the same standard as the other products they serve. Apart from that, the place has a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff which make you feel welcomed and help you start the day...
