My first stop in Ghent and it couldn't have been a lovelier experience. The cafe was quiet when I visited on a weekday and there was plenty of seating, both inside and outdoors. I ordered the belgian waffle as I'd really wanted to try an authentic one, and my goodness, it was heavenly! Very soft, light and not too sweet! Although they offer a variety of toppings and sauces, I was more than happy to enjoy it in all its glory with some simple icing sugar and cream. They make their waffles fresh and it was served within minutes.
The two gentlemen who served me were very welcoming and made the experience all the more pleasant. The cafe also serves breakfast, pancakes, sandwiches and the other type of waffle (liege).
Would definitely recommend a visit here.
Edit: I returned to try their croque madame (grilled ham & cheese sandwich, two eggs and salad). For €17, it was a little pricey for what it was, but...
Read moreAfter spontaneously walking to their terrace to enjoy a Belgium waffle 6 months ago we wanted to come back here ever since to try and taste their famous croissant with Italian ice in it. So end of September we did, finally. We ate lunch first and it was absolutely delicious! Their menu is really unique with many, delicious choices. From drinks like amazing warm chocolate milks to (Italian) food. We both had a focaccia and loved it. For desert finally the croissant with Italian ice cream…and it was extremely disappointing! The croissant tasted old (quite tough) and the ice cream itself does not deserve the label ‘artisanal’ in our opinion. Staff is very friendly and atmosphere great. Too bad of the croissant (especially because it’s their famous food) but we’ll definitely come back here to try the many other...

I ordered the Italian breakfast (coffee, orange juice, prosecco, San Daniele, Italian salami, provolone, gorgonzola and bread). When it came, there was no gorgonzola. They said they had run out and I could have more provolone instead. I declined as I didn't really fancy more of the same, and I actually really wanted gorgonzola (the main reason I ordered it). I do understand that a busy cafe will occasionally run out of something but it would have been good to be told when I ordered that I wasn't getting the full meal - or maybe offered a small reduction on the bill, after all it's...
