Da Toto — Restaurant in Ghent

I live only a couple blocks away so I go every once in a while out of convenience and because I like the food but the service ranges from below average to absolutely awful, depending on the day. I went last night and I was really disappointed. Took them 35 mins to come and take our order for drinks even though I had waved at waiters every few mins and I even walked up to the bar twice to ask if they could come and take our order. Food only came 1h45 after we arrived but it was busy and we weren't in a rush so we didn't mind. Other people got pretty upset about it though. When we tried getting the check, I also had to get up twice and wave at waiters (one of them being incredibly rude) every few mins so that ended up taking 30 mins too. They then overcharged us 50€ for wine which was hard to spot as they never gave us a wine menu and the receipt was hand written and basically unreadable. When I asked for a wine menu just to check if what I was paying was correct, I noticed and pointed out the mistake and they reacted by laughing and saying it was an honest mistake. They then changed the check incorrectly and still overcharged by 30€. I only noticed that 10 mins after I had left and had to go back. Once again they were just laughing and saying it was an honest mistake. So, I like their food but after last night (and previous bad experiences) I'm afraid I'll never go back and I'll never recommend...

We booked table for 5 people for the dinner online. Booking was confirmed, so we arrived at our time. But manager shouted at us that they have no places for us and just poked in our faces his phone, showing the booking dialog and his sent message that decline reservation because they have no places. But our girl who did this booking received no such message. So he just kicked us out and was very rude. We were staying outside and discussing where we will go for dinner, when after 5 minutes the waitress peeped out the door and said that we can come back. We said no thanks and went to Sale & Pepe, where we spent good evening. So, service is awful. The place itself is extremely small, loud and overcrowded. Food is okay but nothing special. Without booking you will wait very long to have your seat and then you will wait for your food (it was during our previous and obviously the last visit). Triple check your bill when you go there because the man behind the counter is a fraud. When I went to complain about an item that I returned but that was still on the bill, he acted as if it was the fault of the waiter and then acted as if he reimbursed it to my credit card. When I came home I saw on my bank account that he actually charged me a second time. And when I then returned again, he first said that it was also my fault that I paid double and then showed that he did not have cash in his register so that he could not repay me.
