Gust — Restaurant in Ghent

I was really looking forward to this place, but honestly, it was a complete letdown—especially for 37 euros per person. I get the idea of sharing plates to try different things, but not when the portions are barely enough for one person, let alone two.

The whole meal felt like a series of disappointments. A tiny bowl of yogurt with maybe half a spoon of granola. A sad pile of grated carrots and random veggies awkwardly roasted and hidden under burrata to make it seem more appealing. A croissant mutilated and stuffed with bolognese sauce (apparently "Korean bolognese," but I have no idea what made it Korean) that I had to split with my lunch date. A single pancake with some sweet sauce—probably the only thing that was actually decent. And then, a cheesecake so dense and heavy that even I couldn't finish it, which says a lot.

For this price, I would expect actual portions, not tiny scraps disguised as a "concept." If I’m paying that much, I want a proper meal, not to leave hungry and frustrated. I honestly don’t get the hype or why this place is always booked out. My own cooking tastes better—and that says a lot. Never...

The food was excellent ! But the service terrible. We came with reservation 5min earlier and they send us wait out as it was to early for them on really not polite way. So better late then be on time ... we spend there 3hour on brunch but not becuase there were so much things to taste but becuase we wait for more them 30min for each course and the result was that all the dishes came cold. Waiters were super busy and had no time to served all of us properly so people served them by themselves and as we were next to the bar with water coffe and tea there was super busy around us all the time. I'm sorry to say that the expierence was completely ruined by terrible service and atmosphere. I do not recommend to go there for sunday brunch . Maybe it's different for normal breakfast but I will be hesitant to go...

Unfortunately lot's of negative points that will take over the positive ones. Don't think we will come back...

Negative points :

Service : One word, catastrophic. We didn't feel welcomed once we arrived, like we were disturbing employees by just being customers whereas we reserved & booked in advance. No smile, no presentation of the dishes, waiters were quite abrupt when handling the dishes. One waiter even took my plate whilst I hadn't finished. What kind of service is that ?

Temperature : We were literaly boiling in this place with no fresh air.

Positive points :

-Food : Excellent food with fresh & savoury dishes. Feta & mint pesto was awesome so as the congee rice bow ! Congrats...
