The food was tasty, no doubt, but the dishes are for "tasting" rather than a proper meal imo. In addition, the tables are way squeezed one next to another, which makes eating somehow uncomfortable for me. Overall, I would not describe it as vfm if you are really hungry, but a nice alternative if you are looking for some dishes to have with your wine.
Edit: I am updating my review in response to the "owner's comment", which differs slightly from the one I initially received via email (attached). To address your initial ironic question, I am certain that I dined at Le Tournant. Regarding the claim that I did not "finish" my dish, the so-called "leftovers" were pure fat (yellow parts shown in the photo), which I generally do not consume for health reasons. I never complained about the dessert; I simply did not finish the tiramisu, for it was nothing special. There was no mention of it in my review, so there is no need to focus on that. It is true that I arrived without a reservation and left before the original booking, as instructed by the staff. However, this does not change the fact that the tables are positioned extremely close together, whether a reservation is made or not. The space constraints were not a result of my presence - I did not receive an extra table, as you suggest. The table was already there and was simply occupied by another guest after me. In short, the seating arrangement remains cramped regardless of reservations in my opinion. I did not decline the table upon arrival because at that moment, there was no one seated close to me, nor was I informed that this would be the case. I was only told that I needed to leave before 9:00 PM, which I willingly accepted and did. P.S. If your goal is to make guests feel comfortable as stated, reacting so defensively to constructive feedback suggests otherwise. You seem to only appreciate positive feedback. Perhaps my entrecôte was simply too fatty - better luck next time in a reserved and more private...
Read moreAdmittedly, I couldn't resist the tantalizing descriptions of food in the Michelin guide, so I felt compelled to experience it firsthand. Opting for the €45 three-course menu, I indulged in a sinful pleasure as my first choice – the Homemade semi-cooked Foie Gras from La Sauvenière farm, and it was nothing short of exquisite. The Beef Tartare that followed was even better, with a unique addition of Trumpets of Death mushrooms that with their meaty texture and nutty flavor, created a harmonious combination.
However, the experience took a turn for the worse thereafter. Waiting an extended period for the dessert, Light Mousse with Bitter Valrhona Guanaja Chocolate and Roasted Sesame, which sounded promising, turned out to be a letdown. It fell short of the high expectations set by the previous dishes, tasting more like a generic chocolate mousse you'd find in any store.
The €25 wine pairing also left me also pondering why is called wine pairing. Substituting the dessert wine with an unexpectedly sweet Kystin Kalysie cider was a surprise. The taste was pleasant, boasting flavors of pear with hints of ginger and citrus. Nonetheless, for a wine pairing, I had anticipated a beverage with a higher alcohol content than the 2% found in the cider.
To add to the disappointing experience, there was a final letdown of waiting for more than 20 minutes to settle the bill in a not overly crowded establishment.
In summary, the dinner stretched out to an hour and a half. The first half-hour was delightful, with two outstanding dishes that lived up to the enticing descriptions in the Michelin guide that initially drew me in. However, the following hour was marred by two prolonged waiting periods and a forgettable dessert combination that dampened my enthusiasm for the exceptional first courses. If this were my local neighborhood restaurant, I might be more forgiving. However, considering it is not, the overall experience left much...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this small but beautiful french restaurant on valentines day. He was only really excepting groups of two and four but we were a group of three. He made an exception to the rule for us. The courses for valentines day were as follows: Bone marrow with pickles and toast Cod and Foire Gras with bread Leg of a pig of the bone with potatoe purré When a member of my party did not eat the bone marrow (as she does not like it) the owner offered her something else instead. The amount of care in which he has in everyone of his customers is beautiful. All of the food was imaculate. Upon arrival we also received a small gift to take home with us which was some cured sausages. The atmosphere was amazing and the owner really liked to chat and get to know people. The waitress was very attentive and was always ready to help. And as the owner himself said "This was a miracle" (that we got the table without reservation). In my opinion this is a miracle worth participating in. The price was also very competive with such delicious and fresh food only 52 euro a person!!
To finalize, thank you for performing...
