I visited this restaurant with a group of 20 people. We had a table reserved and, as requested, we placed our food orders two hours in advance in the afternoon. We arrived at the restaurant at 19:00 as planned, but unfortunately, we had to wait 1 hour and 57 minutes for our food to be served.
While the food itself was of decent quality and we have no complaints in that regard, the overall experience was disappointing due to the poor service. The staff showed no sign of courtesy or professionalism throughout our visit.
Towards the end, we were pressured to pay the entire bill as one group in order to "save their time," which only caused confusion and tiredness among us. To make matters worse, we discovered that the bill included desserts and dishes that no one had ordered or consumed. While we managed to get some of these removed, it appeared we were still charged for extra items. It took us at least half an hour to sort through the bill, and we’ll need to review it again later to understand exactly what happened.
When some of my colleagues politely asked about splitting the bill, the staff responded rudely as if they were ready to start an argument. Their attitude lacked basic respect and left a very negative impression on all of us.
If I could give half a star, I would. The food was acceptable, but there was nothing else positive about the experience. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined what could have been a...
Read moreSuper Rude, Kind of Expensive and Food Borderline! A certain level of rudeness is expected at bars and restaurants when you are being waited on in Brussels. That is something that you just get used to when you have been living here for a few years. However, I believe that the waiter at ‘Les Brassins’ simply crossed a line when she felt the need to call out her customers for not saying “Hello” at our arrival and then being extremely confrontational in front of everybody when we commented, among us, on her rudeness (Eavesdropping on your customers? Seriously?).
If that wasn’t enough, after 20 minutes they hadn’t taken our order, never asked if we wanted something else, nor they offered desserts… Truly, there are much better Belgian-Cuisine places around and they won’t make you apologize for taking your money while insulting you.
Food is ok, but I truly feel there are much better and authentic places in Brussels. Just go to "Fin de Siècle" (Incredibly good and friendly, you cannot go wrong there), "9 et Voisins" (Great Stoemp!), "L’Entrée des Artists" (Best Carbonnades) or "Au Vieux Bruxelles" or even "Chez Leon"...
Read moreWe ate at this restaurant twice in a row, and it was absolutely phenomenal both times.
It looks rather unassuming, being located in an alley with no other stores or eateries, but this place is far more than meets the eye. We ordered seven different items from the menu, and can recommend them all: -The beer braised pork: Delicious, rich meat in a savory sauce. -Beef carbonnades: Unbelievably tender! Melts in your mouth. -Meatballs liégeoise: Served with a nice sweet sauce. -Mussels with cream/garlic: Huge portion, and large, meaty mussels in a flavorful broth. -Bruxelles waffle: Not too sweet, served with sweet whipped cream to balance it. -Homemade chocolate mousse: Best I’ve ever had! Intense chocolate flavor without any bitterness or overwhelming sugariness. -Irish coffee: Far better than you’ll get it in other restaurants.
All servers we met spoke english, so communication wasn’t an issue.
It is best to reserve ahead of time, which is easy using their official link. It gets very busy along the evening. If you come early though, expect a long waiting time for your food to arrive, since the kitchen hasn’t...
