An Absolutely Disgraceful Experience - Disgustingly Behaved Staff!
As British tourists visiting Belgium, we were looking forward to a relaxing meal - instead, we experienced one of the most unprofessional, rude, and frankly disgusting displays of customer service we’ve ever encountered.
Upon arrival, we politely asked for a table for two. We were seated but then completely ignored for 15–20 minutes - not even offered menus. We had to call down staff three separate times just to get basic attention. When the menus finally arrived, it took another 15 minutes for anyone to take our order, and again, only because we asked.
Meanwhile, we watched multiple Belgian customers being warmly greeted, immediately served, and spoken to with respect. The contrast was stark - it genuinely felt like we were being treated with contempt, as though our presence was inconvenient or unwelcome.
We were served cheap bread rolls with butter in plastic containers (both clearly low-quality), and even our bottle of water took ages to arrive after we had to remind the staff again. When the food came, it was deeply disappointing: the fries were clearly frozen, low-grade oven chips and the meat was chewy and far from fresh.
Frustrated and disappointed, we asked for the bill. After waiting another long period, we informed the server we would only be paying for one meal due to the terrible service and subpar food. At that point, the managers son came over and said the meal was “on them” due to the circumstances, which we accepted - it seemed like the only professional moment in the entire ordeal.
However, the situation took a turn for the worse. As we left, a female member of staff said in French (which I understand), “leave the table, goodbye” in a passive-aggressive and incredibly rude tone. Then, unbelievably, the same mangers son who had just offered the meal for free followed us out of the restaurant shouting in our faces “shame on you, shame on you, shame on you” repeatedly - aggressively and in public view. It was humiliating, intimidating, and completely uncalled for.
We left feeling absolutely degraded, discriminated against, and treated like second-class citizens simply because we were foreign. As someone who has travelled extensively, I’ve never experienced such appalling behaviour in any restaurant - not just in terms of poor service, but the open hostility shown toward us by the absolutely appalling staff!
To any tourists considering dining here: avoid this place at all costs, please save your money and go elsewhere… i wish we did. It was not just bad service - it was a complete lack of...

Read moreAverage food. The head waiter and head waitress treat customers badly. They mess up orders. One of the dishes we ordered was not delivered, and when we asked for it, the head waitress explained that the kitchen had just closed, and instead of apologizing to us (mistakes can happen), she made up pathetic excuses which consisted in blaming us customers and obnoxiously suggesting that we go to the kitchen and prepare the dish ourselves.
Upon informing the waitress of the rudeness of her remarks, the head waiter stated that I and the other two guests at the table had treated the staff rudely throughout the evening. There is no truth to this claim. It was made to excuse their poor service and poor behaviour. Indeed, when I asked if this accusation was true to the (rare) polite waiter that mainly served us throughout the evening, he confirmed that we were kind to him during our stay.
A few minutes later after finishing the discussion, I needed to use the restroom, and the head waiter physically blocked me from doing so by jumping in front of the door saying that I could not go to the toilet and that the restaurant was closed while it was not true: the restaurant was still open, we were still sitting at the table, we hadn't paid yet, and many clients went to the toilet after me. When I insisted that I needed to go to the loo, he even stated that he would have called the police. What on earth is going on here?
In order to clarify, when we made them notice the mistake they made with our orders, we did not expect any other response than "we are sorry" as opposed to false accusations and hostile behaviour. Definitely...
