very disappointing experience. we had ordered a charcuterie platter as a starter, since we wanted to enjoy the nice evening outside on their terrasse. They forgot the starter and immediately brought the main dishes. Instead of rectifying their mistake, they just said that the main would not be good any more if eaten later and that we would not receive our starter any more. This meant we were out within 20 minutes. Very disappointing for a restaurant at that price level.
Additionally, the main we ordered (gnocchi) was no longer available, and the wine we ordered neither.
Edited for the response received from the owner: It is unfortunate to read that one must hide behind inaccurate or untrue excuses. The place wasn’t full, since we came at 18:30, there were only 3 other tables with guests seated at them when we passed our order. We also weren’t offered to bring the cold cuts and redo our dishes afterwards. On the contrary, the dishes were shoved on our tables with a statement that they will otherwise get cold, leaving us with no other option than to eat them. Neither were we offered dessert or any kind of compensation besides a digestive, which we are always offered here. As a long lasting and recurring customer, I had never seen the gentleman serving us before or the other people running the restaurant that evening. Which might suggest a change in management. If that is the case, I am afraid that with this type of behaviour, the place will be run to the ground. Sadly, I know I won’t be...
Read moreSome mixed feelings about this place... First it's a tiny restaurant and being a group, we felt very cramped (if they cannot accommodate a group, they shouldn't). Second the service was disappointing. There were two waiters and it was quite difficult to catch their attention. When we finally could order, they eventually brought some olive oil to the table... Then nothing for a good 20 minutes, then they brought the bread to actually dip it in the olive oil ! And soon after, the charcuterie platter that we had ordered to eat while waiting for our main dishes. That took pretty much 35-40 minutes after ordering... For a charcuterie platter ! It's one thing to wait for your dishes to be cooked and all, it's another to wait for a bit of meat & cheese to be put on a plate. The menu was also not quite what we expected. And don't get me wrong, it's nice to have a changing menu with seasonal products but the choice was very limited and I ended up choosing something by default. In all fairness, it's too expensive in terms of experience. For that price, I would expect more comfort and better service. However, because it's not all bad fortunately, the wine, charcuterie/cheese and dishes were good. Also it's one of the very few places where they offer water for free and that's a big thing here in Brussels :) so thanks for that. I wouldn't go back though and it's a pity because there definitely...
Read moreWe stopped by Winehouse Osteria a bit in a hurry and mainly to get some work done — not the usual reason to visit such a lovely restaurant! 😊 Still, the person who welcomed us (I’m so sorry I didn’t catch his name) was incredibly kind and accommodating.
The atmosphere and décor are beautiful and refined, the wines are excellent and reasonably priced, and everything we ate was absolutely delicious — it honestly felt like being in Italy! The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming to everyone, which made us feel right at home.
The portions were generous and full of flavor — so much so that we took some food to go and enjoyed an amazing lunch the next day. That says a lot about the quality of the ingredients and the care put into each dish.
Highly recommended...
