Being in Brussels yesterday evening, looking for something to eat, we were walking in the streets without any special goal... Finally, we found Yamato! Seeing how much people were waiting to eat here (there were 7 people before us, including two locals), we thought: why not! We were told there'd be a 20 minutes waiting time. I thought OMG, there's no way we get a place so fast, as half the customers where waiting for their meal yet. It ended up being 30 minutes, but it was worth the wait. We first took some gyoza. Despite coming from a frozen bag, those didn't taste like industrial food. Then, we took a Katsu Don each. It consists of a big bowl of rice with two sliced breaded pork schnitzel with egg, onion, spices and a few more things I forgot about, along with a little bowl of broth... We were not disappointed at all! The staff was friendly and polite. The food was ready five minutes after our order. My wife drank some water and I took a cup of green tea. If I ever visit Brussels again, which is inevitable.(since it is such a nice city!), i'll stop by Yamato again for sure. The Katsu Don is pretty big, so I'd advise not to eat it in the evening as we did, because it will fill your stomach in no time! 😅 Anyway, thanks Yamato... See you...
Read moreThis is a small, tucked away treasure of a ramen shop in Brussels.
I went here for dinner in my first night in the city. It was cold and it has been raining so I was craving for something warm and filling.
I got the Miso Ramen (15.80 eur). It is really good - the portion is huge so it is truly a bang for your buck, so to speak. The ramen tastes good - not too salty even if it is miso-baded and the portions of the solid ingredients was generous.
Aside from good food, the staff has been so accommodating.
Coming from a country that still has establishments that do not accept card payment, it is good to know that they do card payments here.
There was no outdoor seating when I went there because of the bad weather but I believe it will be difficult for those with wheelchairs to eat inside the establishment itself.
As for vegetarian options, the menu all had dishes featuring meat products so on that I am not so sure if these are available.
Other than that, I would really recommend eating here in Yamato. If given the chance, I would really want to try their...
Read moreHad been super excited to try this place, but it did not fully live up to my expectations sadly.
First off, the interior and the place itself seems very authentic. It’s super small, busy and true to style.
Secondly, the food which was just decent. Huge portions was a big plus, but I found all the dishes to lack flavour. Looks like this also might be a reoccurring issue from other reviews. As we didn’t get any sauce we couldn’t flavour up our food either. I had the Katsu Don, but would not go for it again sadly.
Thirdly I need to make some remarks about the service. First I sat outside for some time without being noticed, so I had to go inside instead. Waiter was sweet, but we were never followed up. We drank up our beers right away and had to sit the rest of the meal without any top ups or questions if we wanted more to drinks. She also cleaned away half of the dirty plates from the starters and left the other half for the rest of the meals duration. For such a small place with just 10 ish seats, you would expect you be noticed by...
