Chocolatte — Restaurant in Leuven

I liked this place quite a lot and used to come regularly for the last couple of months. I considered their small cappuccino to be the best in Leuven, it was just right (taste, proportions, temperature, foam) until recently. The staff was also always friendly and the atmosphere pleasant. In the last few weeks every other cappuccino I ordered was lukewarm at best so it became a gamble and you never knew whether you will be getting a good or a terrible coffee. And so I switched to tea which according to the menu existed in two sizes, but in reality only in one? You are told about that only when you go to the counter to get your order, not when you are actually ordering it. All in all I got disappointed with the service and overall attitude. It is a pity, but I don’t think I want to come back or recommend...

Atmosphere and quality of food is really good here. Very busy and rather small. There is a large selection of hot beverages. Cold beverages are limited. The food is options are mostly baked goods like cakes/brownies/muffins (some vegan, some not) these are quite tasty. I like the regular coffee here, there are many more fancy coffees for those who like that. For savory food options there is a small selection of croque/grilled cheese and sandwiches with different toppings like smoked salmon. I haven't tried them, but sandwiches are pricy.

The staff is quite... Belgian, which is to say, smiling must be illegal here. Doesn't seem like a fun place to work. The staff seem to be under quite a bit of pressure.

All in all, good place to bring a date, enjoy a news paper or just drink...

Not a very welcoming place, I came with my friend, my wife and my son who has Ice cream ( from a walk away shop), the waiter said that my son cannot sit because they service Ice Cream too in the cafe, we understood and my wife went with him for a walk to finish the Ice Cream, when they came back they insisted that my Wife and my son need to order and they asked in a rude way saying " the boss insists to order" so we had to leave. " could not leave from the begin as me and my friend arrived first and made our order", beside that the under ground water opening is located under the tables which bring a stinky smell.
