PepeNero — Restaurant in Leuven

I made the reservations days ago. I did write a note saying “I will have very important guests with me (4 pp in total). Please give us a table with a good spot. When we arrived, even though half of the tables were available at the time, they gave us the worst table possible hidden behind a wall where half of the table had to stare a wall corner. When I told this to the waiter (blonde with glasses) he was apologetic and genuinely tried to help me and asked for his manager to come. His manager was so condescending and mean and he said “how do you define a good table, that looks pretty good to me” and did not help at all. After his manager’s atrocity, the waiter said he understands me and it really is a bad table and he apologizes. I felt embarrassed in front of my guests and I cannot believe how rude the manager was. Absolutely insane. The waiters were kind. The problem was my note was ignored and then the manager was rude about the issue. Also, after appetizers we legit waited 1,5 hours for the meals to come. Had a wonderful dinner here! Location is perfect, well in the center of Leuven.

There wasn’t a wait for the four us on a Saturday, as we didn’t have a reservation. The menu contained very simple dishes, but were absolutely delicious! For a nice dinner, not too pricy, but great quality and service: highly recommend!

There were two areas in the restaurant where we could sit, the area where we sat was closer to the kitchen. The tables were very close to each other, and it was tightly packed. This is not too big of a deal, but do keep this in mind in case you...

De betere Italiaan.

Mooi en gezellig restaurant met lekker eten. Mooie kaart met meer als voldoende keuze, zowel klassieke gerechten als speciallekes. Niet goedkoop maar waar voor je geld. Wij betaalden met twee 111 EUR voor drie gangen. Zie foto kassaticket.

De bediening verliep in ons geval erg vlot en vriendelijk. Al het personeel is Italiaans wat de charme en sfeer echt ten goede komt. Men praat er Italiaans tegen elkaar maar vlot Nederlands aan tafel.

We kregen meteen lekker brood en een hapje van het huis. Dit was een eenvoudig maar lekker tomatensoepje in een klein glaasje. Nadien aten we bruschetta's. Deze waren lekker fris. Puur natuur! Als hoofdschotel aten we "tagliatelle met babykreeft" en "scampi PepeNero". Beiden waren heel erg lekker. De PepeNero-saus bij de scampi is een echte aanrader! De saus bij de babykreeft was lekker maar een tikkeltje te pikant wat de kreeftsmaak wat teniet deed. De witte huiswijn was lekker. Als dessert aten we chocolade moelleux en de Italiaanse kaasschotel. Deze laatste bevatte 3 verschillende kazen met 3 verschillende konfituurtjes. Echt top was dit! Dikke aanrader! Ik dronk er een glas rosé huiswijn bij wat er erg goed bij pastte. De moelleux had een mooi vloeibare kern, zoals het hoort. Hij was erg lekker alsook het bolletje vanille ijs dat erbij was.

Ik kan PepNero alleen maar aanraden.
