TL;DR I’m celiac and went for the gluten-free options but the buns & fries made in a shared convection oven with gluten-containing items, so the bowls are the safest option.
I went here yesterday to try the hot dogs and I ended up having a delicious meal, however I was a bit disappointed initially because I couldn’t actually get the haute dogs with a bun or the fries.
They seem knowledgeably about celiac and the mostly the whole menu can be made gluten free, however the buns and fries are made in a shared convection oven (which circulates air, and thus gluten) with gluten/containing buns, etc. This is unavoidable for the buns because they have to cook from frozen and that can’t be done on their grill. At first they didn’t realize this and did say it’s safe, but as soon as I mentioned it about the fries, the staff went out of their way to tell me that the buns are prepared the same way so I could make a decision to not get it, I appreciated that a lot!
They do have a separate grill and ingredients, so I ended up getting a Caesar bowl which was delicious and I didn’t get sick.
Personally I’m more careful so I didn’t trust the buns and fries, but it’s up to you and your tolerance.
I really hope they can get a separate method for the gluten free buns and fries so we can enjoy...
Read moreGreat tasting hot dogs with something for everyone (including vegetarian and gluten free options of all the items on the menu I believe). I've tried almost all their hot dogs and they have always been flavourful and well cooked. There are "usual" menu items that are always there (such as the Mexico and Bellucci) and occasional changes, so if you don't go there for a while you could find something new to try. I also noticed they recently added XL versions of all their hot dogs.
They also offer a few side dishes, but frankly they are on the pricey end in relation to the portions and you don't really need them because the hot dogs can be quite filling on their own. But if you do order a side, beware of the coleslaw unless you are super into overbearing onions. The potato wedges are tasty (if a bit overdone), they also get totally smothered in mayo so be sure to say you prefer them without when ordering if you don't like that.
You can check out their menu online and see what they have, but overall I would definitely recommend the place for a tasty bite to eat. There is seating both inside and outside as well as the option to get your food to go. Note: It can get quite busy, particularly between 12-3pm, so be ready for a slight...
Read moreWe came here on a saturday at lunchtime. We were lucky to have a table. There aren't many tables available inside but they have a covered and heated terrace outside. The staff was friendly but overall the 'system' isn't flawless. The counter where everyone (also if you are having a seated lunch) has to ordre is just next to the door so the way out is always jammed which is difficult for the staff to get outside to bring food to the guests on the terrace. Foodwise: I enjoyed my lunch, the hot dog as well as the soup of the day. I do find it quite expensive but in the end, you are in the middle of Leuven next to the main square so was not completely unexpected. In return you do get nice food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff which is worth...
