We went wanting to share a plate of amazing grandma style Japanese food as we both were missing that!

We got three plates (when we ordered only 2,we knew the kids would be fussy, and didn’t want to throw food) and it was put in front and simply apologised for but not removed ! Basically forced on us. We decided to simply not make a deal.

Then the lady and the chef, didn’t refill the tea thermos, so the other customers had to simply wait forever if they didn’t speak French. The table next to ours got so annoyed they got their food parcelled and this still took so long!

Anyways the food was 3plates of the same thing as it’s as Saturday brunch and ofcourse we threw a lot as a kids didn’t eat.

We got 4 small portions of black rice pudding which was nice and it was delicious!

But I don’t see what was “Japanese gradma style” in 3 plates of fried rice, some extremely spicy carrots fry and very gingery sprouted beans!

And it took 2hrs to serve this ! Never again. Came out feeling cheated and drained as all our expectations of Japanese food was dashed !

Such a shame for a place that could have been so lovely. And a very disappointing...

One of the best meals I've had the pleasure of having in Brussels and, well, anywhere else.

There was a small snack of fried rice paper with smoked paprika. For me it was a bit oily and not to my taste but the texture is really fun. We had the pork neck with mustard sauce (fell apart just by looking at it), the triple cooked potatoes with mushroom aioli (crunchy, rich, but would have liked the potatoes a bit saltier out of preference), the tartare with coffee mayonnaise (incredible), and the broccolini with baked ricotta (like having a broccoli cheesecake).

The service was excellent and simple, the dishes coming out at pretty much the same time and in a reasonable time of 1h from sitting down. I didn't feel rushed at any point.

The dessert, ice cream with caramelized popcorn, was for me a bit too sweet & sticky, but the lightness of it was really nice after a meal with generous portions. We are active people with big appetites and were not left hungry.

All of this was very affordable: 44 euro per person including a carafe of sparkling water.

The decoration is nice - like sitting in...

Finally I could have lunch at this restaurant today. I was looking forward to it so much because I’ve been hearing lots of good things about their food from the people who know well about Japanese cuisine. But in the end I was soooo disappointed. And it started from right at the beginning. We had a reservation at 13h but had to wait for 20min. (No clear explanation or apology from them) The food was OK or I’d rather say that it was lame for me to be honest. But the desert was quite good and I was enjoying having it. But then I found a white plastic ring in it and it totally turned me off. I told them about it, of course. The chef came to us and pointlessly started explaining us what the ring was (it’s a part of the package of fresh cream that fell in it, apparently😩) but no apology…

Well, maybe I was just unlucky. And maybe my expectation towards their quality was too big for what actually is. But those kind of bad service really disappointed me more than the quality of the food.

I don’t think I’ll...

I've been wanting to try here for a while as I go to the craft beer bar next door and finally got around to it. Lovely well executed clean tasting flavours. The aubergine was baked in a miso sauce and was so delicious and I'm not normally the biggest aubergine fan. Beef was cooked with some radishes and fried onions and all combined well together and the flavour of the beef was very good and of a good quality. Sticky rice to accompany it and also some picked cucumber which was also great and a nice palette cleanser. I will definitely be returning here. I couldn't get in the restaurant as they were fully booked, but you can get served at the craft beer bar next door. A little expensive, but where isn't these days.

Had a great date with my boyfriend, we do long distance so we like to treat ourselves with nice places and nice food. We also talked about moving in together for the first time, so I have a fond memory of it. There were three people in the restaurant, one for service and two in the kitchen (who looked like very much alike, was funny). You can see on one of the pictures how our order was taken, I let you guess what it was :) All in all, I cannot wait to go back, the service was super cute, felt very personal, great qualitative and unique dishes. Can just recommend!

Small, cosy place that delivers on its promise of delicious Japanese grandmother-style food. I had roasted cabbage in a chilli sauce and some side dishes. Portions were well-sized and balanced. The menu is fixed with only a few options, so picky eaters might find that difficult, but what you get is very tasty. It felt like comfort food. Also, they had a vegetarian and a fish option when I went. Our entire table loved the down-to-earth experience!
