This place is severely overrated. Extremely long wait for food, dirty broken down bathrooms and at best mediocre food. We had 4 people in our party. Two ordered the ginger butter crab claws, one ordered their coconut curry fish and the other curry shrimp. The crab claws were nearly impossible to eat with the meat sticking to the shell. 3/4 of the plate was a butter sauce that made picking up and handling the claws very difficult because of how slippery everything was. After extracting as much meat as possible from the claws you were left with approximately 3 to 4 bites of actual meat. What a joke. Was told by the waiter that’s how it’s done locally. The curry fish was okay along with the curry shrimp. Although the shrimp still had their tails on them. To me a finished dish would be to remove the tails so the texture is smooth. The bathrooms were very run down and gross which made our 2.5 hour experience just that...
Read moreWe went to the Little Kitchen four times in 3 days it was so good. The ambiance and view are the best on the island with a sunset lagoon view from an elevated dining area. Good wise this is authentic cooking done in a generational kitchen. The recipes they say were learned from their departed matriarch. Steven and his step son Daniel ran the floor they are two of the nicest people I’ve ever met and shared great insight into Belize with me. My wife recommends the chicken and rice dinner while I had the whole snapper (best I ever had). For breakfast we had the fryjack meal and natural juices; watermelon for me and pine apple for my girls. Simply the BEST culinary experience on the island, IMHO.
Finding it can be a problem it’s to the west and block south of the fire station follow the signs from there. It’s definetly woven into the local community but it’s all good everyone was...
Read moreThey weren't opened exactly at 5 pm, came back 30 minutes later, and they were opened.
Started with the mango margarita. It is very tasty if you like very sweet tropical drinks. Not much alcohol content, in my opinion (light weight, social drinker).
We had appetizers, fish panades, and conch fritters. The fritters were bit on the overcooked side, and the panades were fried well but a bit dry on the inside.
Meals are made to order, so if you start feeling hungry, it is best to make your way over there as it takes up to 35 minutes to have entrées out.
The waiters checked in regularly, and they had provided bug spray, which was very hospitable of them to do. They also had some repellent coils burning, so it definitely kept mosquitoes at bay where we could enjoy the beautiful sunset and dinner on the...
