Chalé Ipanema — Restaurant in Região Geográfica Imediata do Rio de Janeiro

This is a cute spot, formerly a florist (I think). It’s on the medium, next to a busy street so don’t expect it to be quiet.

I had a single espresso and slice of cake and pão de queijo. No complaints about the food or coffee. In fact, the pão de queijo was excellent. I’d return just for that.

The price of coffee was way too expensive. A single espresso for R$15, for a double it was over R$20. Cappuccino even higher. To give you a sense of other prices, at a restaurant in Botafogo the espresso was R$8,00. In an artisan coffee shop in Ipanema a double espresso was R$11,00. Here there was no barista and the espresso was from a machine.

In sum, cute spot for a pão de queijo if you’re in the area.

Este é um lugar fofo, que antigamente era uma floricultura (acho). Fica no canteiro central, ao lado de uma rua movimentada, então não espere que seja silencioso.

Pedi um espresso simples, uma fatia de bolo e um pão de queijo. Não tenho reclamações sobre a comida ou o café. Na verdade, o pão de queijo estava excelente. Voltaria só por isso.

O preço do café, no entanto, estava muito caro. Um espresso simples por R$15; o duplo era mais de R$20. O cappuccino era ainda mais caro. Para dar uma ideia de outros preços, em um restaurante em Botafogo o espresso custava R$8,00. Em uma cafeteria artesanal em Ipanema, o espresso duplo era R$11,00. Aqui não havia barista e o espresso era de máquina.

This is the best coffee shop I went to in Rio. The owners are so kind. They chatted with me graciously as I spoke broken Portuguese. I went there twice while visiting Brazil. The plants are so relaxing. You feel like you are in an oasis. The coffee is good as well as the pao de queijo. Prices are very reasonable. I 100% recommend coming here for breakfast...
