So, in general, burgers in Brazil are not all that. However, this place was recommended to me, so I decided to try. The prices of the burgers went up and the weight of the meat went down since the menu I saw was published, so I took new pictures and posted them. I’m ok with the price going up - that’s the way of the world, but at the same time, reducing the weight of the meat is not ok in my eyes, as it lowers the quality of the meal you’re getting. Now, for the gist of it… The staff is friendly and the service is good, the food tasted good, probably better than other burgers I’ve had in Brazil, but the burger itself was very small. The menu said 160gr, which is already a pretty small burger, but this felt like it was even smaller, maybe 100-120gr. Other than that, the veggies were fresh, the home fries (canoa rústica) were also good, and they have Heinz ketchup, mustard and mayo, which was very much appreciated as most places here have cheap local brands of very low quality ketchup and mayo. Other info - most of the seating is outdoors - tables and chairs on the street. There are only 2 tables inside, and far from A/C, so it’s not really a good option. Basically, my only problem was that the meat patty was very small.
**adding a response to the owner’s response: the meat is weighed before cooking everywhere in the world, my burger was not well done, and still appeared very small. I actually went to another place the next day so I could compare, and purposely got a 100gr burger, and did not feel it was much smaller than the 160gr at Djalma. I honestly don’t believe my burger at Djalma was over 120gr to the most, and also think that even 160 would have been pretty small compared to what most foreigners are accustomed to in their own countries. Other than that, as I mentioned, everything was fresh and tasted good (but because of the small size of the patty, and comparing to prices of other places around, I do think it was...
Read moreThis is such a great spot, and truly only a couple of minutes from the copacabana strip - it’s worth the detour for food that will beat any of the beach cafes.
The food here is delicious, portions are excellent and the service was timely without feeling rushed. I visited as a solo female on a Sunday evening, and sat street side reading my book, soaking up the atmosphere as I enjoyed my food. The waitress looked after me, brought me an English menu and was generally lovely.
Would heartily recommend to anyone needing a burger fix - I had the classic cheese burger but they had a full burger menu including...
Read moreAmazing staff and food! We are from Australia and needed delivery as it was raining, but we couldn’t create an account online as we have no CPF number. No problem said the Djalma team! They helped us out so quickly through WhatsApp - took our order, worked out the delivery details and they even let us pay for the food on delivery! We gave a tip to the driver as we appreciated the effort from everyone! And the food of course was great - true American-style cheeseburger and French fries with herbs. Perfect! Thanks so much, we...
