Overall, this hotel would not be my first choice if I come again to Rio. I would not recommend this hotel.
Pros: 1- Location: the hotel is very well located in Copacabana. It's less than 10 minutes walk to the beach. It's under 30 minutes walk to Ipanema beach and Arpoador. Lots of shops and restaurants are few minutes walk. The area in general as well as all Rio felt generally safe.
2- The basics: the hotel has the basics and it's clean to some extent. AC, internet, TV, a safe, bed sheets. Practically in general is ok. If you're not expecting much it's fine.
Cons: 1- Service: contacting reception to ask questions or request something does not work. They left us on hold forever and when you call again they don't answer. If you need any extra toiletries, you'll have to go get them from the reception.
2- Room service: they hardly cleaned the room. They did tidy up the blankets and the sheets. However, the bathroom floor towel is not changed. It felt like the sheets were not changed as well. The floors were not vacuumed from beach sand.
3- Toiletries: you're only provided with 1 towel, 1 soap, 1 shampoo and 1 blanked for the whole room. No face towels, no hand towels, no shower gel are available at this hotel.
4- Size: everything is extremely small. We are 2 adults and we stayed in a 2 twin bed room. The room is extremely small, we literally cannot be walking in the room at the same time. The twin bed is very small and not...
Read moreOnly good thing about this hotel was a location.
I'm not really sure if the receptionist could speak English since he never talked or even glanced at me when I checked in with my friend, who can speak Brazilian Portuguese. I understand if it was because of the language barrier since it's my bad that I cannot speak Portuguese in Brazil, but acting as if I don't exist was a bit uncomfortable.
The room was okay except the washroom, which smelled bad. The towels were really dirty with weird brown stains so we had to ask to change them few times. Also, we stayed 4 days but they only provided us soap on our last day, so I'm not sure if they always give soap or you need to be lucky.
On the second day, we went to the beach, came back to hotel in the afternoon and found that the maid left the door to our room open, and, to crown it all, our room key stopped working. We called the receptionist right away and they said they will talk to the manager, but there was no follow-up for another two days of our stay.
Last but not least, they charged us for breakfast for 4 days–not two, but one person because apparently I don't exist😂–which we never had. Fortunately it didn't take long to prove, but it was not a pleasant way to end the...
Read moreperfect location in Copacabana, close to the beach (2 blocks), next to Cantagallo metro station and with plenty public and private transportations around as well as grocery stores and restaurants. Despite that the location of the hotel is quiet. Top floors can even provide you with a view on the sea (though obviously obstructed by other buidlings).Staff is extremely helpful and nice. Be it at the reception desk, in the restaurant or staff making the rooms.Rooms are of good size. Bed is comfortable and there is a fridge. Showers are good (pressure and temperature). Breakfast is quite repetitive but choice is good. As common in Brazil most of the items are too sweet for my taste and not quite suitable for people suffering from diabetes or pre-diabetes.The WiFi signal resp. the speed may be quite weak at times but that may also depend on the room location and the overall load as it tends to be much better late morning and early afternoon (ca 10 Mb up and download).I would definitely recommend the Ibis posto 5 for stays in Copacabana.Room pictured in the attached photographs is 1670 (top floor, room facing...
