DO NOT GO HERE! After what I experienced at this place, I can safely say that this is THE WORST service that I have EVER seen in my life.
Where do I begin? First, me and my family went on holiday to Copacabana to relax, and as such we wanted to do so in front of the famous beach, so while passing by many places on the promenade we were lured by the waiter, who was stood outside with a menu. When we asked if they had a particular dish, they affirmed, so we sat down at a table.
This is where it all goes downhill, because the restaurant stank, but we were willing to forget about this tiny detail if the food was good. After deciding what we wanted to drink and eat, we told the waiter, who took our orders and went to the kitchen. As he came back with my family's drinks, he proceeds to tell me that they do not have any Pepsi, so I was given some knockoff Fanta instead.
Then, after waiting for (and I am not joking) 30 minutes, we wave to the waiter to ask where our food is, at which point he comes to tell us that the Picanha Dish we ordered is not in stock, and that we should pick another Picanha Dish which was TWICE the price (a complete rip-off considering that they are both nearly the same dish). So when we heard that they did not have the dish, we asked the waiter to bring our cheque so that we could pay for the drinks and leave.
He comes back a little bit later and we notice that on the bill they have included a service fee without our consent, a musician fee (even though there were no musicians playing at the time), and they tried to add 2 beers that we had not consumed.
We were very unhappy to find all of these unexpected charges, so we asked to speak to the manager, who came to the table to tell us that we have to pay, and that she was not having it, and left angrily.
We went to the till to pay only for what we have consumed and nothing extra, but she was only growing angrier at us for not falling into her scam. The manager was playing the victim card, and because we were tourists she exclaimed that we were being racist, and that we are filthy people who do not like Brazilians.
At this point I took the exact amount of cash needed to pay for only the items we bought and none of the extra added items.
THIS IS WHERE IT GETS DANGEROUS. The bodyguards (although by how they behaved they can only be described as thugs) seemingly came out of nowhere, and started harassing us for not paying into their scam, and started coming up close to me and my family trying to scare us and intimidate us. One of them had his hands in his pocket suspiciously and smelled like cannabis, so OUT OF FEAR FOR MY LIFE I forked out the extra cash and we walked away.
This is not where it ends, because the lady who was the manager came running after us and was swearing, being racist (oh the irony), and belittling us in a way as to "show us who is boss."
Conclusion: These people are savages, and you should NEVER...
Read moreWe visited everyday during our week long vacation until one day they had live music and we were charged a "cover" The problem we had was that we arrived before there was music, unlike most bars there was only signs posted inside the kiosk stating they can charge cover during music shows but none outside like most kiosk stating there WAS music and there was a cover. When we explained to our server he said ok but when we received the check they still charged us. After explaining again he brought someone from the kitchen (not sure if she was in charge or not) and she was very rude and had a nasty attitude with us even after we told them we'd pay. She stormed off, embarrassed us and made us the laughing stock of the kiosk with a security guard and the rest of the servers even when we were still watching. We had such an amazing experience until this happened so tourists beware of these kiosks and ask if there is a cover even if you arrive before the music. They will not tell you until you...
