I'm going to start this review by clarifying I'm from Rio. Born and raised. I just haven't lived here in a while, but I visit often and all my family and friends still live in Rio. One thing I love about the city is that the vast majority of restaurants are unassuming and have great food. It doesn't matter who the sever is who first helped you, anyone is willing to help. Not at Brewteco. An absolute unfortunate copy of the American way of service, a person brings you your drink but cannot help you with your order. Then another reserver rudely tells you they're not your server and also cannot help. At this point, "our" server is helping a table of about 20 min and doesn't even realize we exist. A manager comes by (we didn't ask for one. He just showed up) and very reluctantly offered to help. My cousin had ordered a gin and tonic before we arrived that was essentially just tonic. She asked for another one and the server didn't want to replace it. I asked if they could make a Hugo Spritz for me (mind you, this bar has a long gin list), and he said he didn't know what that was, so as I started saying "it's lemon juice..." He abruptly interrupted and said they couldn't make it. I was appalled by how absolutely unhelpful he was. We decided to just leave and at no point was there an apology or any indication of regret. They absolutely did not care. In Rio, you have a million amazing places to visit and eat at. Just because they happen to have an amazing view does not make up for the absurdly bad service, bad and expensive drinks. Avoid this at all costs - an absolute fad place that takes everything that is genuine about the city...
Read morethe waiting system is ridiculous. you can come and book a table and while you are waiting you can stay on the veranda at the bar or go somewhere else. in any case you have to leave your contacts (email) and wait for the notification mail, checking your inbox endlessly, because after receiving the invitation letter you have 5 minutes to come to the reception desk, but who knew, that's a zero tolerance thing
I was on the veranda and noticed the mail after one minute. I called the waiter and asked him if I had to pay for my beer if I'm about to move to another table (and showed him the mail). he said "yes" and went to get the terminal. another minute passed. I paid and went to the reception, one more minute passed
at this time the girl at the reception is busy with other guests, filling out their data in the tablet, so I'm not interrupting their dialog. in a minute another girl comes up, asks my reservation name, checks it, "oh, it's been 5 minutes already, so you are moved to the waiting list again”
well, I went back to veranda, finished my beer in two gulps and left. at least...
Read moreWe booked a table at the front desk, were told that an email would come and were offered to go for a walk around the mall or wait at the bar. We chose wait at the bar, took our drinks and when the message came that there was a table for us, my husband immediately informed the waiter, asking if we could move our drinks, but the waiter said that first you need to pay for them, my husband immediately paid and went to the girl at the reception. He approached the girl but she was filling out another person's details. After she finished and husband reported himself, he was told "it's been 5 minutes, you've been moved up in line expect more". After this we left, horrible disrespect to the guests! 5 minutes is a reserve and this is with the way the elevators work in the mall, and the elevator that leads to the bar does not work at all. If we didn't make it standing behind the bar, what chance do the people on the first...
