After several years we gave this Restaurant another shot. I wanted to celebrate my wifes birthday and asked beforehand (while making the reservation) for a surprise Birthdaycake to be served at the end of our dinner with a small candle. I called the restaurant a few hours before the dinner, whether they remembered my request for this surprise and they confirmed. Well, the evening was not going on expected. First, it seemed that simple requests like "without pepper, please" where ignored by the kitchen so that the waiter had to replace a Tomatojuice and the ordered Carpaccio. My wife also explained in detail that she wanted to have her Filet Mignon very bad done....raw inside. The waiter confirmed her wish and insisted to "leave it with him". The Filet arrived halfway done. We declined to make a scene since my dish (an excellent Mini-Lobster BTW) already arrived.
Then at the end, they did not came through with the Surprice Dessert I have asked for.
Summary: The Restaurant does not live up to the price and reputation and the place (if packed; which is normal in São Paulo) is so loud, that it makes it almost impossible to have a normal conversation.
Sorry, we won't come back. Competition is strong in São Paulo and you find better french restaurants worth the...
Read moreWe love this restaurant and go every time we’re in SP! We’d have given 5 stars except for this experience. Beware of the Sauternes “Sneak” offered at the end of your meal by the manager. He brought a bottle of Sauternes wine and two small glasses to our table and offered us a taste. He asked if we liked it and we said yes. When we then agreed to have the two glasses filled, he quietly said “not included.” We didn’t think much of it, thinking it would not cost that much. We paid our bill, but noticed when we got home that this little “treat” cost us as much as the entire full bottle of wine we had with our meal! I’m sure we’re partially responsible for not asking what “not included” meant, but feel he took advantage of the language barrier and the gesture of the wine similar to when the owner of an Italian restaurant offers a complimentary glass of Limoncello as a thank you. The manager was very nice at the beginning and made us feel like well-regarded tourists from the USA that he was helping with the language after a waiter recognized us and moved us to a nicer table. We thought he was taking good care of us until he did this...
Read moreGreat atmosphere and service. It's like you're in a cozy french alleyway. Pablo was a great server.
This is an outstanding place for executive lunch and dessert.
I wouldn't recommend the couvert. It's $18 for goat cheese + bacalhau + chicken liver pate (similar to foie gras) in Port wine. The whole assortment was interesting, but they have a single type of french bread which was bland.
Appetizers Cheese Salad (Salada ao queijo St Marcelin Empanado com nozes) was good, but I wouldn't get it again. The fried cheese was very interesting touch Tartines were very good, I'd recommend. They had a thin crunchy toast base, and the toppings were lively and tasty.
Dessert Excellent place for dessert, everything we had was outstanding The Tarte tatin was very good. The apples had a balance between firmness and softness that was extremely good. The tarte crust was thin and soft. Café gourmand - comes with a creme brulee, chocolate mousse and a macaroon. Probably the best chocolate mousse I've ever had. The texture is amazing. They said the mousse was the main house dessert based off an 80...
