Checkpoint Charly — Restaurant in Sofia City

We walked by the restaurant and really liked the outside area of the restaurant. It has a nice atmosphere. So we gave it a try and it was as good as it looks on the picture. Everything was fresh and tasty. We wanted to order a wine and got a better recommendation of the waiter. Lucky, because the rose wine was just perfectly fitting to the food. Thanks for that !

Also lucky was, that the fish was on the lunch menu. The fish was amazing and the Salat was good and fresh.

Service was friendly and fast.

Price was totally fair due to the lunch offer. 4,5 stars due...

One of the oldest still standing post communist restaurants in Sofia. Used to have a chill “western” vibe and crowd. The idea of structuring the menu with dishes from both sides of the iron curtain is still really good. The menu stayed the same during all these years, but the quality of the dishes goes downhill and the prices are shockingly high even for Sofia which in 2025 can be more expensive than Athens. I am fascinated by this place! You have to have reservations, otherwise Good luck! Located the city center, hidden behind big doors... you have to ask about why there are tables with a white table cloth and tables covered with just old news papers.... The food is delicious and unusual...like banitsa with yogurt available to you fresh in 22 o'clock... The service is great! Till you waiting your food, you can draw, write, doodle on the walls or on the many note pads available to you! So you can express yourself till you eat:))) For sure we are coming...
