We went there with 3 persons to enjoy a dinner together. After we ordered our drinks we tried to order the following: as starter 2 types of sushi as main a burger with fries and mayonnaise, chicken filet with vegetables and additional oven potatoes and beef with mushrooms
The first waitress didn't manage to understand our order and also had technical issues with the ordering terminal. The second spoke okay English and appeared to understand our order. After 10 minutes we received the potatoes without chicken and asked to serve it later with the chicken. Then a bit later we received the burger without mayonnaise and still no sign of the starter. After the burger was eaten we received the mayonnaise, which we then rejected as it wasn't useful anymore. 5 minutes later finally the starter was served. The so called "dragon sauce" was a simple sweet chilli sauce and both sushi had been swimming in it. The other 2 main dishes still weren't there. While eating the starter the chicken was served with potatoes and additional potatoes. The beef wasn't served. After another 10 minutes when we started getting a bit grumpy and the second person as well had finished finally the beef was served. All in all the taste of the food was okay, but the way of serving was a disaster. We saw on other tables as well happening similar situations. The prices were for Sofia average. Not...
Read moreDon't eat the sushi here. Be very precise about your orders.
Both my brother and my mother had sushi at the Happy here in the city centre and got severe food poisioning with vomiting, fever, and cold sweats (they went on two different dates). Another time, I came by late in the evening to grab some food for myself and my girlfriend as we just landed in Sofia and this was the only spot left around my area that was stil open and sold food. I ordered myself some rice with vegetables and my girlfriend a burger without(!) cheese, as she gets stomach cramps from dairy. I made sure to ask for there not to be any cheese three times. I waited for about 30 minutes, got my food, and went home. Once at home, we saw that there was all of the cheese on the burger. I went back to have it exchanged, but they said that the kitchen is closed and they can't exchange it. After some hesitation, I was given my money back. I went back home, gave my girlfriend my rice, and went to bed hungry. Wouldn't recommend this location at all.
I can't really talk about other locations, but this one I would not recommend. I used to love going to Happy. It was my favourite dining spot on my way from Sofia to the seaside. The portions and quality of the food have changed, however, in my opinion. Relatively speaking, sizes became smaller and are...
Read moreThis is surprisingly solid. Happy gives me a TGI Friday vibe with it's menu. There are a lot of varieties and even has sushi on its menu. I believe this is a popular chain that started in Bulgaria and expanded to places such as London. They have ads and plaque stating that they won the best fast food restaurant in London. They are almost always crowded and a lot of local people seem to like this place which is a good sign. I was able to get seated even though I didn't have reservations but I was alone and sat at a high chair. It has a lot of drinks and I ordered a special dragon lemonade. I didn't see dragon fruit only strawberry mentioned so not sure why it's called dragon lemonade. But anyways it's alright. What I do like is the food menu. They have everything such as burgers, chicken strips, fries, seafood, etc. I ordered fried calamari and shrimps, grilled veggies, and a black mamba sushi. The calamari and shrimps are slightly dry so not as soft as I'd like. The grilled veggies are slightly too salty but soft. The black mamba sushi roll is not bad. It has salmon, and a sweet sauce. It's nothing authentic but tasty enough. Overall I liked the food and the price. I think it's a great place to have meal in Bulgaria because there are simply something...
